Not clean, worn and stained linens, worn and stained towels. I had difficulty getting the shower to work. No restaurants close by. The closest convenient type store was nearly half mile away. How this place ever recieved a 3.5 rating is beyond me. The staff were all really nice and pleasant to deal with. Tazwell has limited accommodations available as the only other hotel in town didn't appear any better.

We try everything we can to wash and clean the linens and towels thoroughly, and replace them with new ones every few months. Sometimes the stains are hard to remove, in which case, it does not make too much sense to discard the entire linen for example, however, if it is significant enough, we replace such items. However, sometimes a couple of these may make it through our laundry, for which we do apologize. Regarding the rating, it is based on the customers that have rated us here and is beyond ourselves as well. Finally, we are glad to know that you found the staff to be nice to deal with. I had no problems with my online reservation. I see many negative reviews here, but for me the Lodging was functional - the bed was comfortable enough for me to sleep well, the AC and TV worked fine, and the cleanliness was okay. There were no burns or smells in my room. I realized after checking out that I had left something in the room, and when I called, they had it waiting for me at the front desk. If I have a complaint, it's that the toilet is so close to the wall that it was awkward to use.

Regarding any items left or forgotten by our guests, we usually keep the items in the office until the owner comes back to claim it, just like you mentioned. We are sorry about the toilet being close to the wall; that is something we will keep in mind for future renovations.
