In het Glen Reenen Rest Camp is er geen restaurant en ook verder in het Golden Gate National Park is er genoeg restaurant. We kwamen iets voor 18:00 in dit hotel aan om in het restaurant te komen eten. Veel bediening voor erg weinig gasten. De eetzaal is vrij strak opgezet. Dat is iets waar wij persoonlijk wel van houden. Hier was het echter te klinisch en vooral het lichtplan (verschillende kleuren lampen) maakte het erg ongezellig. Personeel (4 dames) was vriendelijk. Maar omdat er zo weinig gasten waren (ons tweetjes en nog een ander koppel) voelde het wat ongemakkelijk. Er was een buffet. Voldoende keus. Het smaakte allemaal voldoende, maar we hebben in Zuid Afrika heel veel beter gegeten. Zonde want in zo'n hotel op deze locatie hadden we meer verwacht Wellicht omdat er te weinig gasten waren. Prijs.voor wat je kreeg was erg netjes. De milkshakes waren erg goed van smaak. Ook de.salades vooraf waren prima. Het vlees en de kip waren coldoende net.als Het dessert en de koffie. Nogmaals niet slecht maar ook niet bijzonder lekker.

Hôtel immense adossé aux montagnes rouges du parc. La vue des chambres sur les montagnes et magnifiques et les chambres sont très grandes et très confortables. Le petit déjeuner est très bon et copieux. Le resto est correct. Un endroit idéal pour faire des randonnées dans le parc ou le parcourir en voiture.

Just over a year ago this was one of the few hotels and accomodation in this country wich was well maintained. Now it is a total mess. The hotel has dirty damaged carpets, plaster is bumped off the walls everywhere. Not a single aircon in the hotel rooms and multi-sleeper units works and according to the staff, it has been the same ever since the aircons were serviced last year and even the technician has no clue. We had two units and the one was as bad as the next. One showerhead was so broken that it sprayed after over the door into the passage. There was also a shower that had only cold water and according the the staff a cold shower is perfectly fine... Even for an elderly disabled guest. With the aircons not working we were told to simply open all doors and windows to cool down. This was in contradiction to the instructions to keep all windows and doors closed due to a troop of problem baboons roaming the resort. The rooms are not serviced, braais are not cleaned at all. Cleaners are not interested in cleaning or packing away dishes. The beds have never been cleaned underneath judging by the old socks wine corks and dust layers under there.

We stayed at the hotel for one night as a stopover on our way back to Durban. We found the staff very friendly and helpful especially Mokena who was at the reception desk. The hotel room was quite large but basic but one must remember it is only a 3 star hotel. The view is amazing and one can only but wonder about the potential of this hotel. With investment it could be a top class hotel and destination. We had dinner at their restuarant which was very quiet on the night. The service was good and the food pretty much average but this is very much the standard with the Sanparks restaurants we have visited.

We stayed in a self- catering chalet away from hustle bustle of the hotel and it was an excellent decision. The chalet was comfortable, clean and well- equipped. The sceneray was stunning! It was a good area to do many hike and we had a 7- hour, mother of all hikes, which was tiring but exhillaraing. The park management must do better to mark hiking trails instead of giving the lame excuse that they had a fire LAST YEAR! Our stay at the chalet was an unforttgetably beautiful. We will return!

Stayed at Golden Gate Hotel. The hotel rooms and their bathrooms had a bit of a revamp. Some areas of the hotel however do need some TLC. But the hotel is clean and perfectly positioned for breathtaking views. We loved our rooms that had a stunning view from the balcony of the Brandwag Buttress. The hotel staff was friendly and the restaurant food was incredibly tasty! Their mustard mash is to die for! And my personal breakfast favourite was the Eggs Benedict! There are several nice hikes to do in the area ranging from easy to difficult. The area is absolutely breathtaking this time of the year!

Struggled with the bed and found out in the morning that it had been pushed under the headboard, thats why it was so short for me, T he restruant was good, with good service and a decent menu , I had the trout and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Gorgeous hotel and location I can see the upgraded diningroom and lobby and lounge’s area and it look very inviting the chalets however we’re lacking in maintenance they were old and unappealing. The carpets in the chalet were very dirty the bedding a little yellow and the heating system not enough to warm the rooms. The doors have holes and the wind and cold keep coming in even with blankets in front of them.

Top class customer service. Amazing welcome vibe from all staff from security, reception, restaurant etx... Restaurant setting nice with a beautiful view at the Golden Gate mountains. Restful atmosphere. Bathrooms / restrooms are clean. Sanpark, keep up the good work

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in May 2022, taking advantage of the 40% discount on SANPARKS accommodation until the end of May. On check in, the hotel staff were friendly, informative and helpful. We booked a hotel room with a balcony which was a great decision as it provided stunning mountain views of the surrounding national park. The room and bathroom were both large, clean and tastefully decorated. The electric blankets in the freezing weather were a much appreciated surprise! We had breakfast included in the package- which was a buffet on the weekend and most sufficient. On the Monday it was an ala carte menu, of which our ordered omelette which was prepared extremely well. We opted to do short hikes on both mornings in the national park which was most refreshing and picturesque. We spent the remainder of both days going for drives to take in the magnificent surrounds and then went to the nearby quaint Clarens town for some shopping and food. I would definetely stay here again and recommend it to those looking to stay in comfortable accommodation with beautiful views.

We stayed in a clean and comfortable chalet with a clear view of beautiful mountains, and with a variety of hikes available very close by. It is possible to braai on a patio area in front of the unit Highly recommended.
