Il y a beaucoup à dire sur cet hôtel. Tout d abord, l emplacement face à l océan indien dans un quartier tranquille de Tranquebar est magnifique. L hôtel en lui même est une très belle bâtisse ayant servi de résidence à un gouverneur et a été rénové en hôtel de charme tout à fait réussi. Les chambres sont spacieuses confortables et bien décorées. Les salles de bain très correctes et impeccables. Là où ça se corse un peu, c est côté restauration et surtout petit déjeuner : c'est charmant mais c est un peu léger... mais bon, on s y rassasiée quand-même ! Au niveau restaurant, plusieurs plats proposés sont indisponibles, ce serait bien que le serveur soit au courant... Au final c est quand même une belle expérience mais le management gagnerait à avoir un personnel beaucoup plus nombreux et formé pour en faire un hôtel parfait.

Beau bâtiment mais service inexistant. Pas d accueil , difficultés à se faire comprendre en anglais, Salles de bains désuètes, pas de papier wc , papier essuie mains à la place. Au petit déjeuner ce matin c’est nous qui mettons la table en place . Seul le restaurant est à peu près bon. Déception La piscine est verte et loin des imagés idyllique que l’on peut voir sur le site On ne recommande pas du tout

Bien meilleure expérience que l'an dernier, on nous dit que la direction a changée, c'est un bon point : le restaurant propose du poisson (indisponible l'an dernier !), des tables ont été installées devant chaque chambre, où l'on peut dîner en toute intimité. Nous connaissions L’hôtel ,nous y étions venus il y a 10 ans.C'est avec le même plaisir que nous sommes revenus. C’est un beau bâtiment ancien et bien entretenu qui se trouve en bord de mer ,dans un coin plutôt paisible prés du fort.L’accueil est très sympathique, nous avons demandé une chambre vue mer ,ce qu'on nous a immédiatement donné, c'était une chambre spacieuse avec un grand balcon,très propre.Les repas se prennent en terrasse et la nourriture est agréable . la piscine était de belle taille avec serviettes et chaises longues.Le personnel est extrêmement sympathique et dévoué.En partant on nous a offert un mug en souvenir.On reviendra encore!

The history, the charming renovation, the location right on the beach, nestled between the fort and a peaceful Shiva temple, the pool, the verandahs, the delicious food (special mention for the fish salad and fish varuval), the garden with its swaying palms and fragrant flowers, the churches just down the road, the fishermen out at sea, the waves lapping just beyond the walls, the slow pace of life, all make this place a dreamy, unforgettable stay.

Let me start with the positives. The location gives great access to the historical town and the surrounding areas. You can enjoy a crowd free beach at sunrise. The room is spacious with lovely heritage touches. Now the negatives The service was abysmal! The staff are busy chatting away in some corner. During meal times, I had to go to the reception to get someone to take my order. Looks like the room was renovated and still had the new paint smell which triggered an allergic reaction from my child. The food was another story. I did a mistake of ordering a caprese salad from the menu and was given processed cheese instead of mozzarella. So good idea to stick to local fare of sambar rice/dosa. The pool and the hotel grounds needs a lot of work with over grown grass that was just impossible to walk on and grime on the swimming pool walls. You pay for the location. The rest of the resort isn't worth the price

Excellent heritage property at the best location possible with the direct view of the Danish Fort and the sea. All points of interest like the Churches, Museums are within 5 min walk. The property has maintained the heritage look and even maintained heritage components like door bolts. Excellent courteous staff at front desk and kitchen adds to the experience. A bar is a must at such locations.

Everything was great – from service to ambiance. A special shout-out to Chef Mr. Sathish Kumar and Chef Mr. Kumar for the excellent fish gravy – rich in flavor and perfectly balanced. Truly outstanding! Thanks to Mr. Kapil (F&B Manager) for the smooth coordination and ensuring a great dining experience. Also appreciate the service by Mr. Nitish and Mr. Vinoth, who were polite, attentive, and efficient. Highly recommended. Will definitely return!

There is no Manager or senior person if you want to escalate. The 2/3 boys who run this place are incompetent and can test your patience. Maintenance is poor and I found so many things broken. Both the bed side lamps were broken. The EWC was also broken and fixed clumsily. The menu and the food that was finally delivered did not match and there were a blame game of the Chef trying to blame the waiters and then blaming the corporate team that made the menu. Chaos! I received no help from anyone to carry my bags while checking out. The team just stood by and stared blankly while we checked out. The management is getting away with all this only because of the historic weightage of the property and the location.

We very much enjoyed this place from another time. We had the ‘Crown Prince of Denmark’ room. Sounds grand, but lives up to the door plate in every way. We loved sitting out on the terrace, enjoying the calm and uninterrupted views of the sea. Compliments also to the kitchen who provided us with great Indian fare. This isn’t a swanky 5-star hotel, rather it’s a homely place with super friendly staff who are giving their very best even if communications can be a little difficult at times.
