This is more akin to a B&B as opposed to a 5 star hotel. There’s no bar but there is a sauna and hot tub at the edge of the lake and kayaks are available. It’s a very basic lodge located in a residential area and there is nothing to walk to so if you, like us, have been driving for many hours the last thing you want to do after check in is go out to find a restaurant for dinner. There is no room service. Breakfast is a basic buffet; just adequate. On check in we asked if evening meals were available and we were advised that they were not. The following day we were advised that we could eat in at the ‘B&B’ in the evening and was given a very basic but expensive menu to choose from; none of the dishes were to our taste. (see photos). We bought a local takeaway Indian meal and ate this out of the plastic cartons - hardly a 5 star experience! Our room was a very drab 1970’s pine clad cabin style room accessorised in very dated shades of brown. It felt like we had entered a time warp! I couldn’t wait to leave. It bore no resemblance to the rooms shown in Trailfinders marketing material. Housekeeping was poor. After returning from a day’s activities our bathroom had not been cleaned, morning teacups were left in our room dirty and the sachets of shower gel etc had not been replenished. The extractor fan in the bathroom was excessively noisy and insulation between floors was non existent; we heard everything going on in the room above us. Such a disappointing experience from a Trailfinders recommended accommodation.
