Amazing location, lovely apartment. Would stay again.

This isn’t so much a hotel rather than a company that rents out apartments to use as hotel rooms. As such, it lacks most of the quintessential hotel services, like housekeeping or immediate front-desk assistance. Furthermore, there are no grocery stores or affordable restaurants nearby; it’s in a very posh area of town. I had to travel for a grocery store and for dining. Overall wouldn’t recommend.

My flight was delayed and I arrived at 10:10PM—10 minutes after their “cut off time.” They made me pay $50 for a girl to wait 10 minutes to tell me everything that is on the ad, when there is a 24 hour concierge that she could’ve given the key to. The girl sent me a link to pay it and said “don’t come until you pay it” LOL It takes 1-2 hours to get an extra towel or anything else, and I was unable to get any new bedding for my entire stay because they “didn’t have any.” They also took $300 damage deposit, and it’s been two weeks since my trip and I still haven’t gotten it back (room was left spotless). I now have to go through the haste of reporting a fraudulent charge to Visa. Two weeks later and I am still dealing with them. This place ruined my entire trip. Go. Somewhere. Else.

This was my second time staying at Avalon. Although our room was nice, there was a major unsightly stain in the bathroom countertop and we had no hot water this morning in the shower. I also think checking in highly inconvenient as we have phones from abroad. Our first staff member was just ok as she forgot about us asking for storage, and even once I had paid, forgot to send people up to collect bags at the required time. That said, the two people who collected our bags and helped us to the limo were wonderful and went out of their way to help us. Thanks to them, I will stay again and recommend you.

The owner charged me a $50 late fee (due to flight delay- 15-20minutes late) sent me a text while I was en route to the hotel for payment $50, did not receive an invoice. I get to the hotel and no one is there to help me. Local residence mentioned this happens often. Owner of suite shows up late because she says she was in the bathroom. Takes me up to my room and opens the door and says read the instructions posted on the wall and leave the keys on the table when you leave. The place had not been sanitized or properly wiped down. There was a clump of black hair an the floor near the closet. The kitchen sink had food particles in the drain. The coffee table had stains on it. I had reached out for deposit receipt and how to turn the cable tv on. She never replied. On the last night they also had two fire alarms go off which I know is not always controllable but no follow up was even had. Overall I was very excited to be at the Avalon as I have a friend who is a resident herself. My friend was the one who recommended the stay at her building but was mortified and embarrassed when she viewed the suite herself.

I did not like anything about the property. The property was hidden. No sign to indicate the exact building. No guest entrance. The building was locked with a sign that says "Residents Only". Since we were not residents, we could not enter. It took about 10 minutes to find and confirm the building. I had to call Orbitz to gain entrance.

Overall I had a great stay! The suites are affordable, accommodating, and have a nice layout. Cleanliness could be a bit better, many surfaces had dust on them. I'm assuming that's because no one had stayed in the room for a while. The sheets were clean! Wifi is offered to each room, instead of one general hotel login. This allows you to screen cast onto the TV. Great for spotify users! Love the location. Restaurants, museums, parks, and the subway are all within walking distance. Definetly a young area since it's near the university. I'm so happy I stayed here instead of the touristy area. It provides you with more a local experience while only being a 10 minute train ride from the CN Tower. Heads up: Complete the pre-check in before arrival, especially if you need parking, which is an additional cost, since they run out of spots quickly. Be mindful of the check in period, if you check in early/late they will charge extra. Also certain rooms look directly into the building across the street. If you dont enjoy free peep shows, draw the blinds!
