雷克斯爵士&藍調酒吧酒店(Rex Hotel (Toronto))

Good location. Close to Front St W, subway, street car access. Great music!

Bathtub and toilet were shared. The only amenity was gel for washing hands. Breakfast was listed as simple, but when I asked at the restaurant on the first floor (where jazz performances are held at night), I was told that there was something to order from the menu, which I did. Breakfast is served at 9:30 AM. It is true that I booked the room because it was cheap compared to the surrounding price quotes, but I still paid $145 per night. If I had known from the beginning, I would not have booked it. Is it the cost of the land since it is in a good location? I think the reception and cleaning staff work normally and the common restrooms and bathrooms are well cleaned. The rooms have double-paned windows, but it was November-December and cold was the response. I didn't notice that the heater in the room was set to 18 degrees Celsius at first, and shivered under a thin quilt. The next day I changed the setting to 26 degrees, which seemed to improve things somewhat. The rooms could do without cleaning, but it was a hassle to deal with when I needed new towels only. Overall, I would not use the hotel for overnight stays in the future. You can consider it impossible to work in the room when you are here on a business trip.

The hotel is in greatly located in downtown Toronto. We grabbed a room quickly to support the jazz club and the room came at a great price. What we didn’t realize until we got to the hotel was that we had managed to book a room without a toilet and shower. This was not the hotels fault but something that we should have seen and notified about clearer. Next time we would make sure that we booked a room with a bathroom.

Very old building.They checked me in the 2nd floor. No lift. I to lift my luggage myself 2 flights upstairs with no help whatsoever. The room is very cold. The electric heater is not working and when I tried to call the hotel office they couldn’t fix it and they didn’t want to change my room. It was midnight in Toronto and I couldn’t go anywhere else. So I stayed in the cold all night

The location was convenient, quiet on the 2nd floor, and the price was very low for the area. We stupidly assumed we would have access to the bar below, but we did not ($20 cover to see the band but it was packed, or $10 just to get in to the bar and not see the band - which defeated the whole point of experiencing the hotel). The beds were HORRIBLE and had springs that you could feel - no padding and hard as a rock. My whole body hurts after one night. Parking is a block away and $24 a day which isnt awful but far from convenient when its cold. Be aware that the stairs are steep and there is no elevator. We were willing to tolerate the small rooms and shared bathroom to be able to see the live music at the Rex, but despite getting there before the band even started (on a Thursday night), we saw nothing. There is a lot of great food in the area and access to the tram is easy, so there's that. I would not stay again - because it felt like a bait and switch seeing how hotel guests need to pay a cover charge just to get into the bar.

The ratings are related to price. It is a clean and safe place to sleep; the music is a huge feature; food is pub fare. The rooms are small. TV very small, Internet OK, and breakfast was very good and reasonable. But it’s not the Ritz, not a brand new fancy hotel. For the price these days, it’s just fine.
