Booked a nights stay for our 26th wedding anniversary. I was severely disappointed with the hotel. The room was not worth the price I paid . The building is old and worn (not as advertised on their website) the room even though we got told was cleaned and ready for us, was not clean. My wife spent the first 30 minutes cleaning the kettle, cups, spoons, glasses and sink. She then went around taking photos of our room the dirt and the stains on the carpet and the rotten window frames. The bed was uncomfortable I would assume the mattress was several years old. After reading the hotels reviews we decided not to eat at the hotel. We did read the menu but the options were as outdated as the hotel. We felt swindled. When we complained to the hotel they said we could not complain to them as we booked through trip.com . They then said our room was an upgrade. God only knows what the original room was like.

Excellent service, quality facilities with a traditional feel. Wonderful location and friendly lounge area.

The hotel was below any expectations, very old rooms. Unfortunately the service at the breakfast was totally missing. The hotel needs some maintenance asap.

Last minute getaway and what a great place to stay

On arrival, we were able to leave our luggage before we could check in, which was a great saver as we arrived earlier by train. Check In, was very easy and simple, they let us add on breakfast, and kept a pending payment until we checked out and we payed less than expected. The staff members, from reception, to the bar staff and to the waitress/waitre were very helpful, friendly, welcoming, and nothing to much to ask for. The food from breakfast and dinner was absolutely incredible, and the bedroom were good quality for the price, tidy, and very clean. You also got a "Happy Hour" from 5pm to 7pm where you could get cocktails 2x for £14 and 2x beer for £10, which we enjoyed. You got a heated pool outside, pool inside, and spa treatments were incredible, we felt very relaxed after our treatments. Receptionist there 24/7 and available to help whenever you need it. We had the train station right by us, sea front just across the road and bus stops. I would recommend the hotel to a family or friend and myself and my partner will definitely be coming back.

Swimming pool facilities were closed and it was not clear prior to booking when that was the point of stay. The bedsheet was dirty with a stain on it. Location is great. Breakfast average and not many options for food especially those whom don’t eat certain meats.

A simply Devine hotel with such historical charm  The charismatic entrance foyer draws you into this wonderful exquisite reception area We had the upmost pleasure in staying on New Years Eve  & were greeted with a lovely glass of free champagne in letting the New year in  They also had a really good modern band playing the finest of music in one of their opulent rooms  We would grant this very fine hotel a definite 5 Stars experience  Many thanks

We would not visit again, no air-conditioning in rooms, and window only able to open about 4 inches, very warm and hard to sleep, or stay in our room, bathroom even hotter. no wifi in room 107, could access it in the hall way outside room and in bar and reception downstairs. I gave 3 for service as had asked at reception twice about internet reception and they said they would reboot the system and it was unusual as our room was near mainframe. to many dogs staying, did not realise a dog friendly hotel, we like dogs, but would prefer a non dog hotel. I have never written a review like this before. We have stayed at this hotel many years ago. Staff in restaurant and bar very friendly and helpful.

We arrived around 2.30 tried to check get the paperwork out they knowing we couldn't have the room until 3pm was advised we couldn't so went to the bar at 3 .20: returnee to check it took nearly 40mins and the same to check out awful service
