Fairly dated infrastructure .Location is okay .Staff is good .

We stayed four nights in a terrace room, dinner, bed and breakfast. We were staying on a special offer and it represented great value. We have stayed dozens of times over the years and TLH is still a lovely place for a break. Yes, it needs a refurbishment, but the rooms are large and comfortable, the food is excellent (mushroom and spinach soup and lasagne stand outs). They were extremely busy when we stayed but the waiting staff in the restaurant worked incredibly hard and were so polite and efficient. For leisure we enjoyed the Fire and Ice experience. Only negatives were that the poolside jacuzzi was out of order, the Buckingham lounge was closed and the rooms are no longer serviced every day.

Our second stay at the Toorak, and it didn't disappoint. We had a lovely large and airy room. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the bed was comfortable. Plenty of storage space, good mirrors, and everything you need for a long weekend. I particularly like the bath, so many hotels don't have them now. The food for breakfast and dinner was delicious and well presented, with generous portions. The staff are efficient and courteous. Location is perfect for the seafront and town, and its an easy bus ride to Brixham and Paignton.

This was a last minute break kindly offered to us by a friend who couldn't fulfil the booking because of illness and we enjoyed a relaxing 2 nights. As others have mentioned, decor wise the hotel could do with a little sprucing up but our big terrace room was comfortable and perfect to enjoy the lovely weather on the seating outside. The Toorak Hotel is one of 4 seperate hotels joined by a maze of corridors and unfortunately the furthest from most facilities which however are excellent including indoor and seasonal outdoor pool, bowls rink, games room, bar and show lounge. Parking is free if booked directly and if disabled parking is needed a reserved space is allocated. The hotel is in a good location to get to the beach, staff were very friendly, entertainment was good and we enjoyed the relaxing Fire and Ice experience.

This was our 2nd. stay at this hotel. We were allocated the same room as on our previous visit. Very clean & lovely bathroom with a big walk-in shower. The food was really good with waitress service at dinner. This hotel offers very good value on special offer stays.( we stayed 5 nights this time ) We were offered to arrive a day earlier than we had originally booked, the extra night was only £49.50 per person, D.B&B. The evening entertainment in one of their other hotels was very good . A quiz & Bingo also on offer for those who enjoy these, plus lots more at the TLH resort.

I normally write my reviews down straight away on paper but I’m late uploading to Trip Advisor. This was our third time staying here for a weekend organised function. The other 2 times we were here we were unfortunate to have not very good rooms. This time we were lucky and put in a family room. Very large. It was dated, like stepping back into 80s but it was clean and bed was comfy and we looked out onto trees and the sun streamed in lovely. The food was very good and so too was the breakfast. Resident DJ was fun and entertaining. Short walk into town and down onto the front. Has got parking but a bit of a struggle to find a spot but we did manage. All in all it was excellent value for money and we had a great time.

Having stayed in the Toorak on many occasions I was quite disappointed this time , I appreciate the hotel is old and a bit tired but this time I felt they were cutting corners abit , our room 138 was so hot we had to have the window open and the fan on all night , the mattress has seen better days and the bathroom needs updating, but it was the standard of the food which dissapointed us most , having always chose the toorak as the food was nicer I can only say this time it was worse than hospital food , breakfast was good but the evening meal was awful , such a shame as it’s always been nice , would I return? Yes but would only do B&B

Scruffy hotel staffed by people with absolutely no interest in putting themselves out for the guests and not much in making them welcome either. The food was variable, though to be quite good value when it was good. I didn't stay there but my friends said the rooms were tired and the breakfasts indifferent, at best.

Starting to be a little sad looking. We had a semi blocked handbasin & noted a distinct lack of maintenance throughout the whole TLC complex. Hire equipment found lacking with 2 snooker tables having ripped cloth, failed pocket catchers & no long reach ques or rests. Many water leaks on roof observed.

Stayed on the 2nd January for dinner bed and breakfast. All staff were really friendly and helpful. The general manager was friendly and it was nice to meet him when we checked out. The room was huge and really clean. The carpet was really soft to walk on. The bed was very comfy. There were only 2 pillows in the room on arrival so I requested more at reception and within 10 minutes the porter brought 2 more. The bathroom was good. Had a lovely hot bath. The water was hot and the bath filled quickly. I liked the old sink and bath. Old but solid and worked perfectly. There was coffee tea biscuits and milk in the room. The only issue with the room was that it was a bit outdated and tired. The sash window wasn't in great condition. These are only minor issues and they did not deter me from writing a 5 star review. Dinner was fantastic. 3 courses. I had mackerel mousse. There wasn't a lot of it but it tasted great. There was bread and butter provided. Also a jug of water on the table which was appreciated. The staff service was great at the restaurant. The main course I had was steak and it was superb. It was cooked to perfection plus there was a generous portion. The steak came with plenty of potatoes, peas, carrots and cauliflower. Also the peppercorn sauce was good. Then there was a banoffee pie for pudding which was delicious and had a generous portion. The breakfast was very good. There was a good choice. The bacon was great along with the croissants being delicious. We did a spa break and for the price it was exceptional value. I think the hotel is quite old school and traditional and I really enjoyed this. Overall it was a fantastic stay. Room was very good, food was great and staff were great. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice relaxing break and great food.

Great location close to station and sea front. Room sea view and spacious. Chef Nick did best evening vegetarian slice with roast potato and really tasty gravy/ sauce. Lovely warm swim, great steam n sauna all in sister hotel on same site.

Room 203 Torrak hotel As a single room, as loads of space. The bathroom has a lot of space with the added bonus of a full size bath .Only one slight issue,and that is that the radiator could be a little bit bigger, as the room feels a little cool at times. The food is good ,with a good choice of options, breakfast is a buffet breakfast. All the staff are friendly, and polite. Because this hotel is part of a complex, there is a wide choice of entertainment, with each hotel having it's own entertainment, and then there is entertainment in the main complex.

Have stayed at the Toorak in the past, last time 2 years ago. Sadly standards have dropped significantly. Menu had 1 vegetarian option that was curry, so spicy that was couldn't eat it. Waitress appeared not wanting to be here, leant right across me to remove the side plate. Wine waitress was professional and pleasant. Rooms need updating although clean. Dining experience is not what it used to be, sadly we would not return

We enjoyed our stay and thought nearly everyone of the staff were polite friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, good choices, well presented and some of the sweets were very artistic. The service was very good and our table of six were all given our meals at the same time. A boiler had broken while we were there and they were waiting for parts to repair it. Some of our coach party had no heating they were given heaters. Our room was lovely and warm so can't comment. The entertainment was in the Derwent hotel (one of the group) and quite a walk through cold corridors to get to it .Almost impossible for people with mobility problems. When we got there there were no seats. This was not a priority for us but would have been good if the venue had more seats. Overall a lovely stay and I would go back again.
