斯特拉德汽車旅館(Strand Motel)

Location is just superb. Recently renovated rooms and the air-conditioning was super quiet. Clean and comfortable bed.

As I saw in another review, our hearts sank when we drove into driveway, it really is a hovel. We clambered up the back steps with out luggage and found our room, noticing the bracket on the ceiling of the hallway where a smoke detector should have been as we went. The room was ok, but the layer of dust on the chairs wasn't encouraging. There's a balcony, which we thought was nice, but both of the chairs out there had broken wooden slats, so there was nowhere to sit. We noticed the chairs on the balconies either side of ours were in the same condition. Plus there was an ashtray with butts in it. The only coat hanger in the place was on the piece of paper pasted to the wardrobe door reminding you to check you hadn't left anything behind. There were certainly none in the wardrobe! This place is a dump, our host wasn't unpleasant, but he certainly wasn't a pleasant fellow either. Parking was a first come, first serve situation, otherwise there was a vacant block the other side of where our room was where we could park. We'd done a big trip around Queensland, and stayed at many places, this was one of the worst. Don't stay here!

The Manager, Robyn was very welcoming. The location is excellent, it is on the Strand and a short walk to the supermarket and shops. Next door is the hotel where we had dinner one night and other restaurants close by, those we ate at were all excellent. Being on the strand there was entertainment and activities such as a large number of people enjoying a drumming activity, sand sculpturing and food vans and also a stage with great live music. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. There was a ceiling fan and a split system which made our relaxing and sleeping time perfect. Every day we used the pool which was very clean and refreshing. Any request for extra towels or room requirements were attended to immediately. Now we know this Motel it be our go to place when visiting Townsville.

This is a very old building that is no longer suitable for stays. The parking is terrible for larger four wheel drive vehicles. Appears to be a large block of ground the should be redeveloped as it is in a great position.

terrific - clean and location location location- great location and very clean - conveniently located and a must - good TV reception- good WiFi' great hot shower microvave e - being in a vicinity of a lot of food options and the beach ! ( lots of stingers) be aware and great Air-conditioning with cieling fan and clean sheets

We had to haul out our boat for the antifoul and needed a place to stay. This is an older, budget hotel and I wasn't expecting much and was pleasantly surprised. Check in was easy and the young lady at reception was welcoming and accommodating. The room was small, but cosy and nicely refurbished. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The room was very warm when I arrived, but the aircon worked well to cool it down. My only critique is that even though there was a lovely desk/work area, there were no power points nearby and I had to run an extension cord from the powerpoints across the room to power up my devices. There were boxes available, but had not been set up to have power points. You can probably see this in my photos. In the morning I got a convenient takeaway breakfast from the cafe out front. The motel was right on the foreshore and walking distance to cafes and restaurants. My husband loved it and wants to stay again sometime. We can highly recommend this little jewel on the Strand.

This is our "go to" accom every time we come to Townsville for about ten years now. It's a bit dated but refurbishing is coming along and each time we come there are more updated rooms and grounds. This unit block is perfectly situated right on the Strand and is a short walk from the shops and cafes - in fact - the best brekky spot is part of this premises! Great coffee and food and the staff are always friendly. I won't tell you my favourite room number in case you want it at the same time as us but - cheap, friendly, clean, ample parking, well situated... book today!
