This is a beautiful place to stay with modern, stylish and spacious rooms. Rebecca and Jason made us very welcome. We only stayed for 2 nights but wish we had stayed longer. The private hot tub was very welcome after walking the Tongariro Alpine crossing earlier in the day. It’s a super place to relax and chill, especially if you are on a “grand tour” trying to fit a lot into your schedule.

A superb B&B - Jason and Rebecca were so attentive in their gorgeous house. They helped us thoughtfully plan our time there and are incredibly considerate people - their advice to book restaurants early was heeded and we liked the Hare and Copper where we ate both nights using the local taxi to/from to avoid driving.

Jason and Rebecca have created a beautiful place to stay with great attention to detail, and where nothing was too much trouble. Our room was fabulous and the private plunge pool so welcome - especially after completing the Tongariro Crossing. Jason gave us great restaurant recommendations (the Hare & Copper was especially good) and organised reservations ahead of the trip - well worth doing as Turangi is popular with visitors, and the best places to eat get booked up. He helped us arrange taxis and even stepped in to take us when the taxi driver had to do a fire safety couse. The breakfast was also delicious! Attention to detail is everywhere from the coffee in the rooms to the juices available at breakfast... This was our favourite place to stay from our New Zealand holiday - it was wonderful and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone!

I don’t leave a lot of reviews, but this one was so exceptional that I had to! This is the place to stay as HQ for doing the crossing. Great river and hike a block away. You can arrange for drop off and pick up for the crossing which you should definitely do. Great rations for breakfast, coffee, snacks and lunch for crossing were all top notch. Everything has been thought about! It was just my wife and I in the cottage, but had three bedrooms and could be great for a group! I can’t recommend this place enough. Japanese hot soaking tub was a life saver after the crossing!

First class hospitality from Jason and Rebeca who provide a luxury experience for their gusts at the lodge. They organised a guided trek of the tongagiro crossing providing boots, walking poles, packed lunch and transport logistics, and even a beer at the end of the full day hike. I would highly recommend the River Birches as a place to stay in Turangi.
