I stayed at Hotel Shree Shyamraj with a friend for a short visit. The hotel's biggest advantage is its location, it is very close to both Ujjain Railway Station and the Mahakaleshwar Temple, making it particularly convenient for travelers visiting the temple or simply needing a place to stay near the station. However, the hotel is located in a narrow lane, so accessing it by car can be challenging. Room and Amenities: We were given a ground-floor room, which was quite small and had no windows. Cleanliness was average at best. The room had basic amenities, including a double bed, a small table, air conditioning, and a television. The bathroom was equally cramped. There was running hot water, but the shower function did not work with hot water, which was inconvenient. Given the budget price, I wasn't expecting pristine bedsheets or towels, so that was understandable. Staff and Service: The hotel staff were exceptionally polite, kind, and well-mannered throughout our stay. They were courteous and helpful whenever we interacted with them. Transport Experience: Unfortunately, our experience with a cab booked through the hotel for a round trip to Omkareshwar was extremely distressing. During the trip, the driver consumed an intoxicating substance and subsequently became unfit to drive us back. We were left stranded for a considerable amount of time while coordinating with the hotel to arrange an alternative pickup. To make matters worse, the driver was rude and aggressively demanded the full balance amount despite not completing the return journey. The hotel owner did acknowledge the seriousness of the situation, took responsibility, and apologized. However, the incident caused significant inconvenience, disrupted our trip, and left a very negative impression. Overall: If you're looking for a budget hotel primarily as a place to crash, especially because of its proximity to the Mahakaleshwar Temple and railway station, Hotel Shree Shyamraj serves the purpose. Just keep in mind that the rooms are very basic, the location can be difficult to access by car, and my experience with the hotel-arranged cab was particularly disappointing.
