We stopped here as part of an NC500 run. That is about the only thing to commend it.
This is an old hotel with quite a large number of rooms, but it is run as if they are surprised at the number of people staying there and would rather there were no guests. The hotel was completely full when we stayed in mid-September. There is no evening dining, and you are directed to the sea-food restaurant just down the hill. (Book here beforehand or try the Argyle Arms in front of the loch for very good food.) The staff at the sea food restaurant are equally uninviting and can't quite believe their luck at their good fortune either. The hotel breakfast was a reasonable buffet, but with a backdrop of a staff who couldn't wait for you to go. The hotel is noisy with thin walls and wooden floors. Everything is tired and worn out, the maintenance man must be very busy. Nothing a good fire and change of staff couldn't cure.
