A great place to stay, quirky art decorations by the artist owner, you cant walk through any room without stopping and exploring. Very well priced. We were made to feel really welcome. Will definately go back! Plenty of parking and lovely gardens to explore too.

A one night stay, a couple of hours' drive into France from the Tunnel. Beautiful period house from the outside, very eclectic and quirky on the inside (and a surprisingly lovely long garden for a built up area). A very comfortable room, an excellent breakfast, secure parking behind electric gates, and a reasonable price. Only a couple of minor drawbacks - we'd asked to dine in (which appears to be an optional service) but this couldn't be confirmed when booking (a few months in advance admittedly), and it turned out to be unavailable on arrival (the host was I think away). It's far enough from the centre of Valenciennes to necessitate a drive in for a restaurant in the evening (although a tram stop is outside the door), but we got an excellent and helpful recommendation for dinner in town (at L'escargot) from our host on the night.

This was a great find! A beautifully decorated and restored french house. Phillipe the owner was a great host and we had everything we needed. Secure parking in the grounds, great gardens to relax in. Highly recommend and we will go back!!

We arrived at le Grand Duc not knowing what to expect from the moment you step into the chateau We all loved the fantastic decor and Phillipe was a welcoming host and couldn’t do enough for you. He explained there was a party on that night and there would be music and guests but were welcome to sit in the large beautiful garden and listen to the band which were excellent, he even sent party food to us. A great evening enjoyed by all. It has secure parking aswell. If your in valliciennes. Wouldn’t hesitate to return if in the area

Wir waren beeindruckt vom Le Grand Duc und haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt. Wir wurden vom Gastgeber sehr freundlich empfangen und haben uns auf einer Mischung aus Französisch und Englisch verständigt. Es gibt einen privaten Parkplatz und direkt vor der Einfahrt eine Strassenbahnhaltestelle. Auch zu Fuß ist man schnell im Zentrum. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber. Wir hatten einen Blick in den großen parkähnlichen Garten mit schönem alten Baumbestand. Ein wirklich besonderes Haus, das vom Gastgeber stilvoll mit eigenem Charakter eingerichtet wurde. Es gibt viel zu entdecken. Das Frühstück wurde individuell abgefragt - es gab alles, was man braucht (zum Käse leckere Feigenmarmelade!) Leider hatten wir keine Gelegenheit, dort zu Abend zu essen. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Apéro, dîner et nuit formidable, dépaysant, hôte charmant et passionnant, décoration incroyable. Le dîner était excellent et l’ambiance chaleureuse, on s’y sent vraiment bien. Le parc aussi est magnifique. Expérience à renouveler! Merci
