威陸庫旅館(Wailuku Guesthouse)

The house was originally owned by a military officer in WWII. It looks like it has been kept up pretty well. (I restore old houses). The rooms are situated up a narrow set of stairs entering from the back corner of the house. If you are unsteady on stairs, take your time. You have to go up three stairs to open the screen door. It's all they can do with the space available, so it's good. Just different. Up the stairs you enter into short hallway with three rooms. The door handles should probably be upgraded or improved to provide a less rattling closure. But they work and the locks are good. The room (plantation) has a great king bed, and the mattress is wonderful. The bathroom is nicely updated. Though I don't care for the cobble stone floor. The backyard pool and covered patio area are very secluded and nice, given you are across the street from a school. We heard some basketball playing after dark, but that was actually very nice - with a nice Local feel to the place. In old part of town. Parking was good. I did not like it that it appears we're under some sort of covid protocol where we didn't even meet our hosts. The "contactless" process is ridiculous. Annoying and unnecessary. We will stay here again. Love the old house.

Thank you so much Maureen is an angel. We were in a real dilemma trying to figure out where Mom would stay. Everywhere was so expensive. Not only was the place relatively affordable accommodation, Maureen waited for my mom to arrive. She had a pleasant stay. and with one less thing to worry about while visiting her sister in hospital. I stayed at Wailuku Guesthouse with my elderly mother on a trip to Maui to visit her childhood friends now living on the island. Maureen is a kind and efficient host, who answered our questions and provided special touches like fresh flowers and home baked sweet bread in our room that made us feel at home. I also rented Maureen’s car for our weeklong stay. So convenient to have the car right onsite! We stayed in a ground floor room because my mother uses a walker and although there was a step in the room, it was not a problem. We both loved the old building that is impeccably maintained and sustainably operated. And cleanliness is definitely a standard here. The location is perfect to head out in any direction to explore the island. The neighborhood felt safe and has several great restaurants. I enjoyed swimming in the beautiful saltwater pool, and looking at the amazing flowers in the yard there. It made my trip restful, which is important when traveling with an elderly parent.

Wailuku is a great place to stay if you are looking to be away from the resorts and tourist hotels and stay in a lovely small town. Wailuku is a short drive from the airport, but a great base to explore the Road to Hana, Haleakala and tourist activities in the South. Wailuku Guest House is in a very safe neighborhood- it is right next to a school, gym, and sports fields. It is a 5 minute walk to the bank, coffee shops, restaurants, and a theater. It is close to Iao Valley and Maui Arts & Cultural Center. I stayed in the 2 bedroom guesthouse, which was perfect for a week long stay with a full kitchen, livingroom and dining area. It was really nice having the bedroom window looking out to the pool and there was always a nice breeze. The pool area is lovely and the grounds are lush and well cared for- a great place to relax. Information on arrival and check in by the host made everything easy!

Stayed in the Wasabi suite, was a great room but the location is a perfect jumping off point for our daily excursions around Maui, it's very convenient to pretty much everything. The real hidden gem of the Guesthouse was a binder containing suggestions for local restaurants and beaches that have all been nothing short of amazing. You won't find a better place to stay for an "a la carte" Maui Vacation.

We stayed in the Wasabi Suite and truly enjoyed our stay. The Wailuku Guesthouse is centrally located making it easy to get anywhere on Maui. Maureen is an excellent host, who is always available when we need information or assistance. The room is clean and comfortable. Loved the pool and BBQ in the evening.

Maureen and Kimberly were beyond awesome! The room was so clean and was incredibly cozy. I felt this location was in good driving distance between all the great activities. Whenever I had questions, Maureen was ready to help. Also, the cool is great! Very well maintained. I highly recommend staying here. I would go back again for sure!

The Garden Ohana was cozy, comfy and made us feel right at home. There were fresh flowers from the garden waiting for us on the kitchen table when we arrived and were warmly greeted by one of the owners, Maureen. We also rented Maureen's car, and doing so really helped make our vacation convenient and relatively stress free. The pool is amazing, we had breakfast next to it almost every morning and swam in it many times. A refreshing island breeze blew through the house, there is a gorgeous view of the Iao Valley from poolside, dragonflies dart in and out of the back yard all day long.

This was a fantastic place to stay. Clean, quality accommodations, both indoors and outdoors (pool). Was peaceful and quiet, just a few blocks easy walk from downtown Wailuku shops. Would stay here again!!
