The inn was so comfortable and cozy! All members of the staff were very friendly and so efficient, and if you are lucky enough to get to talk to Gayle you will feel extra special! Very clean, convenient to a charming town, hiking very close by, scrumptious food, very relaxing! Go soon!!

The River House Inn was like home away from home. The owner and the staff go above and beyond to make the stay amazing.The food at their restaurant was fantastic. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and appreciated the quiet atmosphere and surroundings. West Jefferson was a sweet town with lots of stores, art and atmosphere. Highly recommend the River House Inn.!

We enjoyed the comfort of the Inn and the wonderful restaurant. Food was delicious and nicely presented. It’s a convenience not to have to travel dark mountain roads for dinner! Our Carriage House cottage was very comfortable - large sitting room with bookcases, fireplace and TV. Relaxing weekend!

Amazing inn for relaxation,great food and a place you meet the most interesting people(especially Gayle Winton) ,and engage in lots of laughs. I highly recommend this inn that caters and is loving to ALL customers,and their dogs.

Absolutely a 5+ stay! Everything about our stay here was above and beyond our expectations. Absolutely stunning location and fabulous staff, incredible food!

My husband and I loved our time at River House for a little mountain getaway. We enjoyed walking the grounds and the road beside the river. The breakfasts and dinner were scrumptious, the service gracious, and the surroundings simply beautiful in the early colors of fall. Our spacious accommodations in the Carriage House were welcoming and cozy - loved the book collection and reading by the gas fireplace at night. Special treat: morning coffee delivery! Appreciated the elegant touches and art throughout the main house. Meeting Max kitty and talking with the magnificent Gayle were truly the cherry on top. Great proximity to charming West Jefferson and hiking at Grayson Highlands State Park just over the Virginia line.

We had a 5 star experience at River House Inn. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed our dinner in the restaurant. The service was great, the food was delicious and the room was very comfortable. Its secluded location is very peaceful by the river but close to Jefferson and West Jefferson too. We highly recommend River House Inn and Restaurant!

Much like the other reviews this place is everything it claims to be and more. Idyllic setting, very unique, dripping in charm. Out of the way worth the effort, very quiet, in the woods, rustic but all the amenities. We stayed in the upper cabin which is private and secluded. Walking to the restaurant with great food and staff just a great place to take a breath, refresh in the peaceful solitude. I don't immediately know if I'm coming back to a place but we knew this would be a repeat.

The most heartwarming experience ever! Gayle is amazing as is her staff, all zoned in on making my stay an exquisite experience. Chef is outstanding. And the music and the blend of people made this stay comfortable, even though I am a solo traveler! 5+ stars!

The River Inn and Restaurant was by far the best place I have ever stayed. Ms Gayle was absolutely delightful. We stayed in the Wee Cabin and loved being in nature and hiking back and forth up the mountain. The food was exceptional. Everyone there was warm and inviting and you felt like you were with family. Because of our stay, we are actively looking for a home there to retire too. We are also planning a trip to go back in a couple of months.

We loved the River House! Stayed one night in the Wee Cabin for our 25th wedding anniversary. The cabin was private and had everything we needed. Loved the jacuzzi tub and deck - both with views of pretty trees. We enjoyed the 1/2 mile walk to and from the main house and restaurant. The staff were helpful and accommodating. Loved the cocktail hour on the front porch with views of the river; dinner and breakfast were delicious. We hope to come back for another stay!

We had the best time here! We stayed in the Wee Cabin which is quiet and secluded. We loved hanging out on the porch in the mornings and evenings. The breakfasts were unbelievable, so good! We were sorry to miss a dinner here, but we will be back. All the ladies that worked there were amazingly kind and friendly. Highly recommend!

The Wee cabin is so beautiful and peaceful. They have thought of everything to promote a comfortable stay. We wish we could just live there! The food was delectable as always! Thank you Chef Ino for the omelette lesson. Yours are the best and one of the main reasons we look forward to staying at River House!

This place is like coming home. Everyone is so nice and if you need anything. They'll make it happen. Food is awesome, great cuisine, seasonal and fresh. Room have a nostalgic charm that connects you to a more slower paced and relaxing lifestyle.
