This is a hard one. I absolutely enjoy all things Sheila Johnson and her Middleburg location (will post review later),but this location was not up to par.
Let me be clear the customer service is what carries the hotel! From the valet, lounge staff, turn down service, room service and phone reps all were stellar! To be honest it has better customer service at this location than at Middleburg.
Another, positive is the location next to the Wharf and sites and restaurants within walking distance. The food both in the lounge and room service was good.
Where the experience goes flat. For the caliber of hotel (star rating) the poshness/luxuriousness was lacking.The pillows(extremelyflat), the room, the look of the hotel. It was just lacking the high end star quality. It looked like a basic hotel room. Even Westin has more pop and lux than what I experienced.
I am not sure if it's because I booked through a 3rd party and my room was earmarked for that list. There's such a thing. Room 460 is right above the railroad tracks(heard trains all through the night), the commode ran for 20 mins straight. Fdesk, sent maintenance up and the man worked on it (for 2 mins literally)Long story short; it wasn't fixed. He attempted to tell me it was due to how far the room was from the water. He ended up replacing the part and it started running right.The tub had gray plaster on it. I'd surmise there was a leak and plastered it.
Hopefully they will keep stellar service and give hotel a facelift.
