時代廣場玫拉酒店(Hotel Mela Times Square)

Agradable lugar buena vista a Nueva York

Abbiamo soggiornato in questo hotel a dicembre 2022. Posizione ottima, girando l'angolo ti ritrovi in Times Square, collegata con tantissime metropolitane. Camere vecchie, non memorabili. Dovevamo soggiornare una settimana ma dopo 4 giorni ci hanno spostato in un altro hotel. La motivazione era l'esercito americano che aveva "requisito" l'hotel per inserire dei migranti dall'Ucraina. Probabilmente era una manovra decisa da tempo che l'hotel però non aveva comunicato. Siamo venuti a sapere che dovevamo andarcene per caso, andando a chiedere un informazione in reception. L'imprevisto è stato gestito bene. Ci hanno fatto scegliere in quale hotel volevamo andare e siamo stati spostati in un hotel di categoria superiore ma in posizione peggiore (vicino alla Grand Central). Alcuni ospiti però non sono stati spostati e i giorni restanti vivevano con l'esercito ad un passo dalla stanza. In definitiva imprevisto gestito abbastanza bene e con 3 giorni restanti in hotel molto più bello. Nota negativa però l'ansia che abbiamo vissuto in quelle ore senza sapere cosa stava succedendo (spostamento comunicato alle 7 di sera)

Avoid - can’t believe this place are still taking bookings and money and people are turning up to find the reality that it’s actually housing migrants! We turned up from UK and we’re turned away by US army, no refund no alternative! Tour operators should not be allowed to still use them. And even if they do start back as a hotel believe me you wouldn’t want to stay there! Scam!

We turned up at Hotel Mela for a 7 night stay after a long flight from England, only to find Hotel Mela is not a hotel at all it's a homeless shelter and has been for the past 18 months, so why is it still being advertised as a hotel. When you call the number no one answers, and why are people still writing recent reviews for this hotel when it doesn't exist as a hotel at all.

We were booked to stay here through our travel agent, but were turned away as it is being used as a Refugee Shelter at the moment. No-one informed us the hotel was closed right now. We were sent to another hotel which was not great. Be aware and don’t let this happen to you.

We were booked in here over Easter. 3 double rooms for 7 nights. Had an email from our travel agent a month or so prior saying the hotel had closed and our booking was transferred to the Renwick. No reason given, but we later found out that the hotel is now housing refugees. Whilst in NY we went to have a look and it’s run down, part;y boarded up and people I can only describe as “down and outs” hanging around outside. If you’re booked into here, cancel it now. Do not go ahead with the booking. Book yourselves in somewhere else.

Not sure what kind of scam this place is running, but stay well away. Booked well in advance at the hotel Mela, for a stay in April. Today they email me saying that they’re closed and they want to transfer me to their sister hotel, The Hotel at fifth avenue. Checked the website and saw it was a 3* vs a 4* at the mela and asked for a reduction in rate. They said no, that I already had a discount applied and offered to allow me to cancel my booking. What a scam
