Room had unusual layout, very quirky - spacious, good TV, bed was very comfy, bathroom big. Downsides - Toilet flush was very selective on working, shower wouldn't produce any water this morning but did work the night before

Elegant hotel with character. Very comfortable room. Lovely breakfast which individually served - better than the usual buffet style seen today. Very much enjoyed our stay.

Hotel bedroom uncomfortably hot and radiator stuck on max. Booked room for 2adults and 1 child and there was no bed for the child. Reception staff quite curt and said it would cost an additional £30 since they had no knowledge of child. Luckily I had evidence with me and the charge was removed. The lift had a sign saying intermittent fault causing it to get stuck. Not good when on 3rd floor. Not impressed overall.

Stayed for 1 night as visiting the area. Lovely building, lift wasn't working which we didn't know and got stuck! Got out the lift and didn't use again! Few things amiss with room-table lamp shades shabby and bits peeling off. Shower pressure not great, however comfy bed and clean. Some bubble bath would be nice & more coffee please. Not great to have smoking outside the entrance-awkward for smokers and non-smokers.

Wonderful stay. Staff were attentive and welcoming. Room was beautiful and exceptionally clean! Restaurant was above expectations... excellent. There was no cheese board on the menu but on request the chef produced one for us. Cannot fins any fault.with this hotel.

We arrived to the beautiful fronted hotel, and we're grated by the friendliest receptionist that I've ever met. Once she had checked us in, because it was getting on into the evening she checked to make sure we had eaten. We'd just had dinner at Mowgli (I highly recommend that too), and although we were full, we both commented on how great the restaurant smelt. We were staying up at the top, and liked the little touches of rooms with names rather than numbers, particularly the fact that they had tree names and we work in the environmental sector. Our room was much larger than expected, with a huge TV, massive comfy bed and all nicely and simply decorated. The bathroom was also bigger than expected, and despite a slightly wobbly toilet handle and a creeky floor, it was also really lovely. It wasn't until a morning shower that I really noticed how big the bath was and kinda wished I'd had a bath the night before. Breakfast was great, the food was really tasty and the service was brilliant with everyone wishing us good morning on our way in. Little touches that make a big difference. The staff left us with a good impression not only of the hotel, but of the local area too. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful place to stay. The staff were extremely accommodating on arrival (Caroline) the Room was spacious and bathroom was amazing. The food in the restaurant was cooked to perfection. Amazing place amazing staff. Would 100% stay again

Beautiful hotel, with loads of character. Room was huge, with lots of big windows, but this meant it wasn’t the warmest (was December when we visited though). Could have done with wifi booster for upper floors. Huge bed, just a tad too firm for me. Food was very nice and staff very friendly and helpful.

Excellent hotel, rooms stunning, staff happy and helpful.Food and service brilliant. Cant wait to return.

The hotel was great until i got up at 6am to get a bath no hot water , As i left at 6.50am i told a member of staff seemed not to be bothered , Try to phone hotel direct four time that day no one answered the phone

Lovely building in beautiful grounds with plenty of parking. Check in relatively easy though why a charge or deposit should be applied to your card after already paying for the room i'm not so sure. Directed to a lift for the third floor which had a sign inside saying it may stop between floors was hardly what you need to see and certainly made finding the stairs after a priority! Room was beautiful & big with views out to the extensive gardens. Bar area comfortable but limited food choice, restaurant menu unavailable to look at unless going into said restaurant & staff ad hoc in the area so difficult to request much. Didn't pay additional for breakfast so cannot comment. Check out time must be adhered to or charges can be made to your card! On the whole its a beautiful place to stay even in the rain, as a last minute deal it suited my needs though I wouldn't have wanted to pay full price because the little ******* I had would have been much more of an issue had I paid rack room price. The hotel itself has a lot of potential if it can be managed well.

We only stayed the one night, although we could of easily stopped at nunsmere a few nights, room was very nice, spacious and comfortable.

The hotel is situated on an outcrop of land in a lake, making for a lovely setting. The room was comfortable and well provisioned for a short stay. There does appear to be an issue with flies entering the rooms during warmer weather, as we were advised to keep the windows closed. However, they still managed to find their way in, which caused a minor irritation. The only other issue we had was a lack of hot water on our second evening, so we were unable to have a bath, which was somewhat annoying. On reporting it to reception, we were told that no other guests had reported an issue, and that nothing could be done until the maintenance staff were on duty the following morning. We did not eat or drink the hotel, but had we done so, a 10% service charge is levied on all transactions, which seems a little excessive, since the food and drink is already sold at inflated prices. There are, however, plenty of decent pubs within a few miles of the hotel. Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a short stay.
