温德米爾湖旅館(Lakes Lodge Windermere)

Room was warm and cosy with very comfy beds. Host thankfully showed us how to use keys as I had completely forgotten the lost art of door opening. After his lesson on how to open doors I felt untouchable and powerful, like I could almost open a door completely unaided. This came in handy as I needed to return to my car to retrieve my phone charger. With my new found powers I was able to enter and exit the B&B completely unassisted. The breakfast was entertaining with the host insisting on serving the breakfast *****ped to the waist and wearing an apron. While he was serving our breakfast he dropped a sausage. He casually picked it up off the floor and dusted it off with his chest hair while chanting “the sausage fell all the way down there, but I will make it pure with my chest hair” and placed it back on my plate with a wink. Absolutely delicious. Would return. Thanks Andy

Extremely stuffy hallway, needs proper ventilation. Very unwelcoming. The owner seems to want to bother people with conversation on controversial subjects. He opened the morning conversation with conflict in Palestine(!). After I managed to shut down his and now the other guest's fatalistic opining and switched respectfully to his tour knowledge he extremely quickly pivoted to start talking about race. The milk we were served was sour. Not everyone wants to dive in to controversial subjects, especially when the initiator is wrong. He should try opening with his Beatles memories, and find some intellectual debate elsewhere. I left breakfast early to avoid.

Excellent little hotel, was not expecting such an enjoyable visit. Rooms were a little dated but this only added to the charm, very clean and well appointed. Comfortable bed and very good breakfast to suit all tastes. The owner goes out of his way to ensue that all guests have the best experience, lovely chap. As a budget option this will be hard to beat.

Stayed in Room 9 for 2 nights. The check-in is fairly straight-forward as the hotel already had the details of the booking. The staff gave me the keys and directions to the room. The breakfast hours were explained and that’s it. The hotel is family run and I found them to be friendly and welcoming both during check-in and breakfast. The hotel appears to be a converted house and the room definitely looked like it had been converted with the addition of an ensuite. Bed was clean and comfortable. The room also had the usual amenities such as kettle, cups, tea and coffee etc. There was a TV, although I never had time to use it. The ensuite had a shower, which was functional. There was a tiny amount of mould on the silicone, but nothing gross. The ensuite was clean and functional, and that’s good enough. The breakfast is fairly typical English fare with vegetarian and non-veg options. The food was served from a buffet, so you should have no problem filling up for the day ahead. The only thing to note is that the breakfast hours are pretty short, but that wasn’t a problem for me. The hotel offers free wifi, but it’s patchy. The connection drops regularly to the point of being unusable. Location wise, the hotel is on High Street and more or less in the centre of Windermere town. Plenty of supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and shops nearby. There’s a parking lot in front of the hotel that can fit maybe 4 or 5 cars. Considering the price I paid, I was really happy with the room and the service. But then, the price was for low season.

Had an overnight stay on a very wet October day ! Andy was very approachable and friendly . Our room was clean , warm and spacious . We literally used it to sleep in .and had a shower . Breakfast was included in the price ( tho we stupidly booked via *********** and paid more ) and was freshly made to order , with ample choice . Even at the *********** price , it’s value for money . We’ve stayed in lots of accommodation in the Lake District - this certainly wasn’t the worst !!!! Got the direct number for booking if we need it again !

Check in was for 4pm. The owner Andrew is very nice and approachable. He explained everything. We stayed in Room 2, Double Bed, very large room, clean and tidy, comfy bed. The room was spotless. Breakfast was included, had English breakfast every morning and it was delicious. No takeaway or food is allowed in your room. This is 3 minutes walk from Lake Windermere Station. I really enjoyed my stay here and can't fault it. Will definitely return again. I booked via ***********, but you save money booking with the owner direct. 5/5 High recommend.

Not chic but comfortable and incredibly cheap but book direct! *********** charged me £50 extra for the 3 nights!! Breakfast was great, full English, Andy is a great host, friendly and helpful and incensed by how much *********** charges on top of his B &B charges. Great location, so near to the train station, perfect for rail travellers.
