Great hotel, really amazing

A popular stopping-off point for those recently arrived or soon to depart Namibia, the Heinitzburg brought our Namibian tour to a pleasant conclusion. Our enormous room was comfortable and clean. The room had a rear door leading to a patio by the pool. The pool is a popular spot for guests to relax before undertaking the next stage of their journey. It’s an enticing suntrap, even in the depths of winter. The centre of Windhoek (Christuskirche, Independence Avenue and the rest) is an easy and safe daytime walk from the hotel. I wouldn’t call it a particularly pleasant walk, but it’s worth taking the opportunity to visit the centre if you have time. One of the key attractions of the Heinitzburg is the restaurant, Leo’s at the Castle. It’s a fine dining restaurant and our meal was by far the most expensive in Namibia. It was the final evening meal of our trip and ensured we concluded things in style. Breakfast is served in a separate area inside the castle. Here the Germanic origins of the building are brought to the fore. It felt a little cramped inside the breakfast room, but perhaps dining outside is an option at other times of the year. The Heinitzburg is home to a lively flock of lovebirds. They seemed to be enjoying the excellent hospitality of the Heinitzburg just as much as the human residents.

Our stay at Hotel Heinitzburg was an absolute delight from the moment we arrived. We were welcomed with a glass of champagne and a miniature chocolate volcano treat—such a lovely surprise and a wonderful introduction to the thoughtful hospitality that made our visit so special. The rooms have a nostalgic charm that takes you back to a more elegant era, while still feeling comfortable and inviting. The entire setting is beautifully presented, immaculate, and full of character. There is a sense of care in every detail, creating an atmosphere that feels both sophisticated and wonderfully welcoming. We loved every moment. Dinner was a particular highlight. We had the honour of being served by Mr Tibor Raith himself, which made the evening feel incredibly personal. The menu was one to remember: exciting, exotic flavours, delicious combinations, and dishes that gave us plenty to talk about long after the meal. It was an experience to savour, and a wonderful part of our stay. What made Heinitzburg truly stand out was how special we were made to feel. We were spoiled rotten and treated like royalty, yet the hospitality remained warm and personal throughout. A heartfelt thank you to Mr Raith and the entire team for all the spoils and for such a memorable experience. We loved our time at Heinitzburg and would be delighted to return! Antje & Juliane

Hotel Heinitzburg is a great place to stay at WIndhoek. The hotel is a small castle located uphill and offering great views over the city and the mountains from the terrace. We had a great stay here with an excellent dinner. The staff shows excellent hospitality. Many thanks especially to Daleen, Laurentius, Rachel and Zandani.

Immaculate boutique hotel with wonderful views over Windhoek. Fabulous staff - shout out to Sade in particular - all polite, friendly and eager to help and advise. Pool area and surrounding gardens very well kept. Breakfast lovely. Leo’s at the Castle - staff very attentive, service superb, wine good, food somewhat over promised and under delivered. Hard to pin point exactly why but not as wowed as we expected. Perfectly pleasant meal though. Lovely place to start our Namibia trip. Highly recommend.

We loved the place. We arrived here after two weeks of travelling through South Africa and Namibia and we enjoyed every single moment in this hotel. The stuff is extremly nice and helpful. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The breakfast is amazing. Beautiful views and a lovely swimming pool. Absolutely a great spot!

A truly wonderful experience! We spent two beautiful days at Hotel Heinitzburg and couldn’t have asked for a better stay. The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming, the hotel is stunning, and the food is outstanding. The sunset views are unforgettable. Even if you’re not staying at the hotel, I highly recommend stopping by for a cocktail or dinner at sunset.
