Apparently there are room refurbishments under way but ours was shabby. The en-suite bathroom was particularly tired, with a water damaged bath panel and a bath that did not properly empty without help. Also, the door frame seemed to have much of its paint rubbed off. In its favour the water was hot and the shower worked ok. The buffet breakfast was probably the highlight of our stay. Afternoon tea was part of our package and that was pretty good - though I am no aficionado. Our one dinner in the restaurant - fish and chips - was perfectly adequate. That was accompanied by a moderately priced, but very acceptable, bottle of wine. Hilariously, when we bought 2 large glasses of wine in the bar, they were served in glasses that were too small and had to be filled to the brim.
