白鹿酒店(The White Hart Hotel)

This hidden gem of a country inn changed what we thought was going to be a disappointing weekend away to one of the most relaxing weekends I have ever had. The event we were attending had been partially cancelled due to predicted adverse weather conditions which did not happen so we were finished earlier than we thought and decided we would go into Yeovil to fill in the rest of the day as we were supposed to book in to the hotel at half five. Unfortunately we had a boot full of tools that we had just purchases so our suitcases were on the back seat of the car and we didn't fancy parking up with them on display so decided we would call into the hotel and ask if they could store our cases for us until booking in time. We were greeted by one of the nicest men I have ever met who told us we could book in there and them and then proceeded to sort out our breakfast and evening meal bookings for us as well. So in the end we didn't go into Yeovil as we were shown to a very spacious en suite room that looked so invited we decided just to spend time there before going for a very pleasant walk around Martock itself. The evening meal was outstanding, the crab salad particularly enjoyable not to mention the ice cream we had for dessert which was delicious. The bar staff were polite and made us feel very welcome. I had an excellent nights sleep as the bed was very comfortable and the shower in the morning was lovely and warm and powerful. The breakfast was just as good as the evening meal and very good value for money with plenty of hot drinks and toast available if you wanted an extra big breakfast. We are already planning 2 night trip there int the future. Highly recommended, excellent value for money and the place to stay when visiting Martock and the surrounding areas.

A lovely village pub with a great ambiance and good food Room was excellent value Room comfortable and clean although furniture a bit dated Beware if staying here that check in is not until 1700 when the pub opens Hotel has a car park on site Landlord very friendly and helpful

Had lunch, both I and my friend foundthe meal delicious, veryhelpful, friendly staff, warm and welcoming. I will return, Easy to park , Martock is an interesting place to visit lovely church and old buildings, and it’s only five minutes from the A303.

Despite the fact that the staff are very chirpy and welcoming this establishment cannot be described on the whole as anything above average. On Monday's (my check-in day) there is no food available at all. So not much of a hotel in that respect. Bed rock hard, pillows wafer thin, toiletries very cheap, damp patches in the room and a window blind that was ineffective and filthy. The village is lovely so it was such a shame that the hotel did not meet expectations and I really can't agree with all the 10/10 exceptional reviews. Is it value for money? Yes. Can't complain at £65 plus breakfast but It simply is not exceptional in my experience.

The owners of this hotel are the best part, so friendly and helpful. Room was really comfortable, a great shower. you do need to ring up if the advertised check in time isn't suitable, as they can probably accommodate you earlier.

A rarity today - an independent hotel that offers excellent value for money. Clean and comfortable with good old fashioned service. The owners/mangers were delightful and overall one of the most pleasant hotel stays for many years.

What a lovely place to stay. We’ve stayed here twice now, and each time staff were excellent. Can not fault. Tea coffee etc, tv, even a separate lounge room upstairs for guests only. Breakfast is plentiful, and nicely presented, with a smile and a chat. We will be back on a regular basis, as have family in mattock. Somewhere nice to look forward to staying.

Car problems on the way down so late for food but a sandwich was made for us. Late back on Saturday night just in time for a delicious steak. Super warm welcome, lovely people, food great and rooms spotless. Would highly recommend. Struggled to find anywhere. Landed on with the White Heart. Not the poshest, certainly not the most expensive but one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever stayed in and we’ve travelled a lot. Couldn’t do too much for you and the atmosphere in the bar on Saturday night was super, took me back 30 years. Lovely friendly locals. We can’t recommend this place enough.

First visit for a family holiday with 3 generations in a well equipped lodge. So much to do in a peaceful back to nature haven. Do go but book EVERYTHING well in advance, restaurants, activities etc. The site is large and although walking through the woods was lovely we took our bikes to get around more quickly. Staff were cheerful and friendly and Guest services particularly helpful. We will be back.
