翡翠寓所(Emerald Residence)

The hotel was in a lovely location. With efficient service. The rooms may benefit from a little upgrade of carpets and the beams were dusty. The room we had used a shared bathroom which was fine to use however it was a walk down some stairs which are carpeted not most hygenic. The fire alarm went off at 6am and it did take owner 7 minutes to arrive to response and check. After this we were able to return to rooms for rest. The hotel is 35 mins walk from centre of York lovely when a nice day.

Lovely big room, bathroom clean, lady who booked us in very friendly and helpful, being here has made our short break very reasonable in cost etc, short bus ride away from York City centre all in all brilliant when I return to York would def try to get a room here again

WORST EXPERIENCE GOING! There is no reception, to gain access and check in you must contact via phone for access codes(no problem). The problem began in room 1 on the ground floor, absolutley freezing, like standing outside! Heater provided was a small electric panel heater that would have absolutely no chance of heating a room that size. I gave it a chance for 1 hour whilst wearing 2 jumpers a coat a hat and my shoes because the floor was so cold you wouldnt want to walk on it. Bathroom was even colder with plywood instead of a window and the ceiling flaking onto the floor from previous water damage i presume. Phoned the contact number to complain and told heating would be coming on , went out for 1 hour as it was more comfortable outside and upon my return stilll no heating. Phoned again and asked to switch rooms, which we did. Room 7 was smaller so easier to heat with small electric heater we where given, still no heat coming out the radiators and although this was an improvement it was still not suitable for people to be staying in. The bathroom had no heating and was so cold we kept the door shut and decided not to shower. By this time it was getting late so I used every spare blanket available and tried to sleep with a cold breeze going over my bald head and 7 mattress springs in my spine as i believe the mattresses are even older than the building itself. I have no idea how these rooms can be sold, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY IT IS HORRENDOUS!

Easy walk down river into York & all the local attractions. Parking was ok. Our room was a good size, however the heating needs huge improvements. The oil heater we had, was on full the whole time to keep the chill off the room, and it only just managed. Shower pressure was average. Bathroom clean & modern. But had no heating at all, so it was very cold. Heated towel rail didnt work.

Room was damp bathroom paint was flaking, the room was shockingly freezing it was warmer outside the oil heater provided did nothing to warm it up. Took more than 10mins to get into the property as lady told us the wrong code more than 5 times. Would never stop again and would waste money a tent would have been warmer.

Checking in was a bit of a pain but when in the young fella was very helpful. I don’t think I’ve ever been so cold in my life it was awful. Couldn’t shower as the bathroom although gorgeous was absolutely bitterly cold. The room was a bit rough carpet was stained and two tiny oil heaters were not enough. I honestly went outside to get warm in the snow. Never again
