TheresaI've been to Niutou Mountain twice, and this time I finally made it to the top!! It took an hour and a half. The steps on Niutou Mountain are quite steep, especially the "One Line Sky" section, which has a 70-degree angle and 350 steps, but after reaching the summit, I felt it was all worth it~

MusieartIt's an ideal place for family and couples to have fun, with activities such as science education, photo opportunities, animal viewing, and interactive performances. I even thought that the banquet hall here could be a great place to hold a wedding – it's so high-end and elegant!

Anonymous userThe Lu Residence in Dongyang is one of the largest and best-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty architectural complexes in China, often referred to as the "Folk Palace." The Lu family settled here during the Song dynasty. After Lu Rui passed the imperial examination in 1421 (the 19th year of the Yongle reign of the Ming dynasty), the family's academic achievements continued, producing 8 Jinshi (successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations) and 29 Juren (successful candidates in the provincial imperial examinations) during the Ming and Qing dynasties, with over 150 members entering officialdom, gradually forming a large and prestigious residence for officials. Construction of the Lu Residence began in 1456 (the 7th year of the Jingtai reign of the Ming dynasty), overseen by Lu Rui's nephew, Lu Rong. The core building, Suyong Hall, took six years to complete, creating a magnificent layout with a depth of 320 meters and nine courtyards, covering over 500 mu (approximately 33 hectares) and containing thousands of rooms. The complex unfolds along two axes, Suyong Hall and Shude Hall, and includes six groups of buildings such as Fangbo Residence, Zhushi Residence, and Dafu Residence. It integrates Dongyang wood carving, brick carving, stone carving, and painted art, especially renowned for its wood carving techniques, and is hailed as an "Oriental residence of international standard." The first four courtyards of Suyong Hall served as public halls, while the last five courtyards were the family residences. The layout imitated the "front hall, rear chambers" system of the Forbidden City in Beijing, but due to its location in Jiangnan, its appearance was understated and elegant, avoiding any appearance of "exceeding the prescribed standards." The lanterns of the Lu Residence are renowned for their exquisite and ornate designs, the most famous being the "Treasure Canopy, Three-Tiered, Seven-Colored Tassel, Goat Horn Lantern" in Suyong Hall. This grand hall lantern is 4.05 meters high, 2.10 meters in diameter, and weighs 127.5 kilograms. It is made of 400,000 glass beads and was certified by the Guinness World Records in 1999 as the "World's Largest Hall Lantern." Its complex structure features a hexagonal canopy at the top, from which three main lanterns (a sheepskin lantern, a silk lantern, and a goat horn lantern) are suspended, surrounded by 24 smaller goat horn lanterns and colorful beaded flower baskets, forming a "three-tiered, seven-colored" pattern, symbolizing good fortune and wealth. The lanterns of the Lu Residence closely resemble the descriptions in *Dream of the Red Chamber*. The novel describes the Rongguo Mansion on the Lantern Festival as adorned with lanterns made of "ram's horn, glass, gauze, silk, embroidery, painting, silk, and paper," while the Lu Residence's existing 300+ antique lanterns encompass almost all categories, including ram's horn lanterns, silk lanterns, and silk lanterns, recreating the luxurious lighting tradition of Ming and Qing dynasty aristocratic residences. The main hall lantern in Suyong Hall, in particular, is comparable in scale and exquisite detail to the "three-and-five glass tassel lanterns" described in *Dream of the Red Chamber*, and perhaps even more magnificent. The custom of hanging lanterns in the Lu Residence began in the Ming dynasty, with the main hall lantern only lit during leap years or major festivals. This tradition continues to this day, serving as important material evidence for studying Ming and Qing folk customs and the life scenes depicted in *Dream of the Red Chamber*. The Lu family's origins can be traced back to the Jiang family descendants of the State of Qi during the Spring and Autumn Period. Due to war, they migrated to Zhuojun, Hebei, forming the Fanyang Lu clan. Lu Zhi, a famous Confucian scholar of the Eastern Han dynasty (Liu Bei's teacher), came from this branch. The progenitor of the Dongyang Lu clan was Lu Shi, an official of the Northern Song Dynasty. His fourth-generation descendant, Lu Yuanfu, moved to the banks of the Yaxi River during the Southern Song Dynasty, forming the Yaxi Lu clan. The family declined in the early Ming Dynasty, until Lu Tianbao's wife, Jia Guang, raised her four sons with great stoicism and hardship, leading them to success. The eldest son, Lu Hua, participated in the compilation of the *Yongle Encyclopedia*, and the second son, Lu Rui, rose to the position of Right Vice Censor-in-Chief of the Censorate, thus reviving the family. Important figures in the Lu clan include: 1. Lu Zhongdian: A Jinshi (successful candidate in the highest imperial examination) during the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty, he served as the Right Provincial Governor of Guangxi, a renowned anti-Japanese war official, upright and incorruptible. He was demoted for refusing to allow the powerful minister Zhang Juzheng to interfere in the imperial examinations. 2. Lu Hong

M50***39Morning tea is actually a cup of green tea made early + a cup of green tea. It is full of early, very rich, and a real carb world. However, you must avoid similar snacks seen in other places, especially the kind of prefabricated frozen pot steamed or fried, recommend local specialties of meat sunken seeds and dumplings. Very delicious. I was full and strolled around the camera museum and the ancient town bridge. I happened to meet the ancient town exchange meeting and experienced the atmosphere of a rural market. In addition, this stay is also a plus, the comfort and emotional value are full, this time I live in an art museum homestay

Sophita23This is a well-preserved ancient town that features traditional architecture, historical buildings and ancient streets and courtyards. Here you can get local snacks and crafts. It's a bit small, but unlike other ancient towns, it's completely free and it's just 10km southwest of downtown Yiwu. The best way to get here is by taxi. Make sure you come here during the evening as well for the night views.

mdczimmermanWe had the most relaxing vacation! We spent 4 days at the resort and came to Hot Springs every day. It was never too crowded or loud! Every day we could find at least 1 pool empty, so it felt luxurious and private. If you soak in the pools near the road, you will occasionally here traffic. But, if you soak in the center, you will feel like you are in your only little paradise. We absolutely Loved it and can’t wait to return. ❤️
