The M+ Museum is a fantastic experience from start to finish. The building itself is stunning—modern, spacious, and beautifully designed. The art collection is thoughtfully curated and diverse, offering something for everyone. But the real highlight was the museum shop—easily one of the best I’ve seen, with unique and beautifully made items. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Hong Kong!

The first time I went to the M+ Cultural Museum in Hong Kong, I saw the Zhao Muji painting exhibition and other exhibition halls
M+ Museum is the first international contemporary visual culture museum in Asia. Since its settlement in the center of the West Kowloon Cultural District in 2021, it has become a new cultural landmark in Hong Kong. From the perspective of architectural design, M+ has been designed by a world-renowned architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron. The building is covered with ceramic tiles, and its southern exterior wall is equipped with a multi-functional LED display system of 110 meters high and 66 meters wide M+ curtain wall. At 6 o'clock every night, the LED lights are on, and the flowing visual culture is reflected on the seafront of Victoria Harbour. The underground railway tunnel is the most distinctive display space for M+. The unique architectural structure provides a different venue for the art exhibition. The collection is rich and varied. Among them, the M+ Hick collection is a treasure trove, which is more than 1,500 Chinese contemporary art donated by Swiss collector and diplomat Uli Hick, and has been created for 40 years. Through these collections, you can deeply interpret the development of contemporary Chinese art, such as Fang Lixuan's oil painting "98.8.25", the elements of the skinhead and water, showing a sense of loneliness and powerlessness. There are also neon signs collected from all over Hong Kong, displayed in the exhibition hall of the Rehabilitation and Custody Center near the main entrance, the Niu Niu of "Sen Mei Restaurant" and the Rooster of "Chicken Notes Sparrow Play", which showcases Hong Kong's fireworks atmosphere and M+'s efforts in neon conservation. M+'s exhibition is wonderful. He has held hot theme exhibitions such as Caojian Yaisheng and Pei Xuming. In 2025, the exhibition "Guo Pei: Yixiang Tiankai" shows the Chinese fashion artist's high-level custom works combining international fashion and Chinese cultural heritage. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Presentation Series: Picasso and Asia Dialogue exhibition will feature over 60 rare Picasso works and more than 80 famous Asian works.
Reasons to Recommend: very spacious which is so unusual for HK, well designed, so many things to see that you can’t finish everything during one visit
nice place to chill on the weekend. took my dogs there for a walk. had a coffee with friends and managed to meet other dog lovers too.
M+ was a code name for the museum project and was later adopted as the formal name of the museum, featuring modern art. Nestled in the West Kowloon Cultural District, the museum has a fine collection of various art forms. Best time to visit is in the afternoon and you can take a stroll on the harbour front to see the sun set and panorama night view of Hong Kong Island side.
love the exhibition in M+ and super amazed by the collection! not to mention its location, right at the station! easy to arrive with subway, and a nice place to enjoy the harbor as well 😻
