This is a unique man-made landscape, like an Irish hill. It uses stones, soil and native plants from the west coast of Ireland, including stones from all Irish counties, and a 19th century Irish farmhouse. The monument's farmhouse, originally from Mayo County, belongs to the Slack family, but has been abandoned since the 1960s. The Slack family donated their farmhouse to "commemorate the good fortunes of their ancestors who emigrated to the United States". Many people's memories are quoted on the stone wall to explain why so many Irish families fled to the United States.
This is built to highlight the problem of hunger, which gives people a lot of reflection. It also left a deep impression.
