Fifty years ago this market place was active with cows etc every Tuesday. Things have changed and such open animal markets are no longer allowed. The Market place has kept remnants of the old stalls,...

Good place to eat and relax, especially when the weather is nice.
A nice place to spend a relaxing afternoon. A lot of restaurants to choose from and plenty of shops nearby. The kids loved climbing the bulls in the middle of the square.

Interesting if there is an event.
The koemarkt is the main square in Purmerend. If used to be the cattle market in olden days, but this has gone since the mad cow desease. Now it is mainly occupied by restaurants and bars and for a sm...

Beautifel old city hall
This square in the heart of Purmerend is nice example of dutch architecture trough the ages The old cityhall is surrounded by old and newer buildings. In the summer you have a lot weddings here.
