North Gate

The North Gate is a landmark building in the city of Taipei, but it has long lacked due historical and landscape maintenance. The North Gate Viaduct (Zhongxiao Bridge Approach) opened in 1978 passes close to the North Gate, making the North Gate more visually important. was severely obscured. In view of this, the "Western District Gateway Project", an urban revitalization plan launched by the Taipei City Government in 2015, listed the landscape reconstruction of the North Gate as one of the key projects. In early 2016, the North Gate Viaduct was demolished and at the same time built around the city gate. With a square-like open space, the North Gate is expected to become a historical landmark in Taipei.

The North Gate of Taipei Fucheng, officially known as Cheng'en Gate or simply the North Gate, is a Qing Dynasty city gate building located in Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, Taiwan. It is the main entrance of Taipei Fucheng. Located at the intersection of Zhongxiao West Road, Yanping South Road and Boai Road in present-day Taipei City, it was completed in the 10th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (1884). It is the only one of the five major city gates in Taipei City that has completely preserved its original appearance during the city's founding era, and is a representative work of Taiwan's new city gates. , is also one of the few remaining Qing Dynasty buildings in Taipei city. There was originally an urn city built outside the gate, but it no longer exists.
