Four Days and Three Nights in Taipei
As a frequent visitor to Taipei, this time I chose some less popular spots to truly experience the local culture and customs of Taiwan.
D1 Huabei Creative Park, Elephant Mountain
D2 Baishishan Suspension Bridge, Bishanyan, Ximending
D3 Houtong Cat Village, Pingxi, Shifen, Jingtong Sky Lantern, Jiufen
D4 Sunset Platform, Songshan Cultural and Creative Park
[Tips]
Elephant Mountain⛰️: Located in Xinyi District, it's a great free spot to view Taipei's nightscape. The hike isn't too long, but remember to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated.
Houtong Cat Village: Perfect for cat lovers, you can see adorable cats everywhere 🐱. Before heading to Pingxi and Shifen for sky lanterns, set aside an hour or two to explore the village's handmade cat-themed shops.
Jingtong: I arrived around 4 PM, and most of the shops were already closed. After chatting with a shop owner, I learned that the area has become less crowded since the pandemic, with most tourists heading to Shifen instead. As a result, Jingtong's shops close early. If you want a less crowded place to take beautiful sky lantern photos, I recommend Jingtong.
Jiufen: The scenery is quite different during the day and night. At night, the red lanterns create a unique atmosphere. Wander through the alleys, enjoy various local delicacies, and explore different small shops.
Sunset Platform: This is an immersive interactive experience themed around the end of life. The first stop was in Kaohsiung, and it recently moved to Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. To avoid spoilers, I won't say much here, but I highly recommend experiencing it. It will leave you with many thoughts and feelings 👍
An easy hike at elephant mountain. You able to do night hike since there are lamps all the way up the mountain! can see taipei 101 from the top of the mountain .
Elephant mountain is the best viewpoint in Taipei for the skyline if you want taipei 101 in it!
The cherry blossoms around Xiangshan Park are now in full bloom! Xiangshan is one of the best spots to view the Taipei 101 building. It is great during the day and the night view is romantic at night. The trails are easy to walk on and it is great to enjoy nature and exercise at the same time. There is a small traditional Aiyu shop at the entrance of Xiangshanzhuang Jing Road, where you can enjoy the refreshing taste after going down the mountain. Further down, there are restaurants based on TV drama scenes and many gourmet restaurants where you can satisfy your appetite.
A short hike in about 2-3hours including sunset watching from the height - suggested to go around 4pm ten headback at 6, or spend a bit more time watching city light up :) cant be missed.
It's a nice and easy trail to hike. It has one of the nicest view of Taipei 101 and the entire city of taipei.
