The Liberty Memorial Tower was built in 1971 by the then King of Balevi in Iran to celebrate the founding of the Persian Empire (Archimenid Dynasty) in 2500. This inverted "Y" shaped reinforced concrete structure is now a landmark building in Tehran, the capital. The square covers a huge area. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we saw that the whole square was under renovation. Except for the middle passageway and the surrounding green space, most of the ground was turned up and encircled. Therefore, the macro momentum of the whole square can not be realized. We approached the monument along the corridor. We thought we could walk under the monument, visit the museum on the bottom floor, and take the elevator to the top to enjoy Tehran's urban landscape. I don't know if the fence leading to the bottom of the elevator has been closed due to work or renovation. So we had to sit in the shadow of the Liberty Memorial Tower and watch it closely, a building that has witnessed every major event in contemporary Iran, including the Islamic Revolution and numerous anti-American rallies.
The Kuy Mehr Abad, an inverted "Y" shaped structure, was built in 1971. 2500 pieces of marble from Isfahan were selected to commemorate the founding of the Persian Empire in 2500 B.C. (Cyrus the Great founded the Persian Empire in 550 B.C.). It witnessed major historical moments in contemporary Iran, including the Islamic Revolution and major anti-American rallies. After the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the Iranians gave the monument a new meaning - "symbolizing the advent of the era of Iranian free theocracy. It became a landmark symbol of Tehran. When we went there, the memorial tower was enclosed and repaired. The front of the square was backlit, and the whole picture of the memorial tower could be taken around the back. The tour guide said that there were elevators that could go up to the top and overlook Tehran, but now they are temporarily closed for maintenance. The surrounding grassland is green, flourishing and pleasant to the eye. Many large crows on the lawn are not afraid of people.
