My all-time favorite Chinese restaurantAh Yat Abalone Forum Restaurant is probably not known by many tourists, and thats fine with me. Though not really a well-kept secret, this spacious Chinese specialty place with a grand river view somehow manages to fly under the radar most of the time you think about fine Chinese dining in Bangkok. Maybe it is the location on Charoen Krung Road in a hotel that is not in a central city location. Or it is the hard-to-describe Chinese fare that you do not normally find elsewhere. Whatever the reason, I am glad that there are no big, loud tour groups to lower the wonderful experience of eating here.The menu is not that extensive by Chinese restaurant standards as it chooses to focus on a few varieties of each main type of food - fish, beef, duck, vegetables, etc. My friend and I ordered about 1 of each type. The cheong-fun is great. Others are standard. For dinner, try the wasabi shrimp and pan-fried ho fun (and steam fish or a black bean sauce dish to go with it).
