My wife is Italian and her home-made pizza shows it. We visit her hometown just north of the heel on occasion so we've had 'lotsa lotsa' great pizza. But on a recent trip to Barcelona she wanted a taste of home (a person can only eat tapas for just so long!) We weren't certain we could find a pie to our standard... WOW! We're we wrong! This place is phenomenal! Pizza from a stone oven just like Italy - as good or better. No foolin'! Plus, the staff is wonderful. My Spanish is negligible, but between English and my broken Italian, we got everything across. Our waiter was a wonderful guy who is an Olympic-style weight lifter (and a great sport). :) With all of Barcelona before us, we went back to this charming place for the food and quick friends twice! Enjoy & and say 'Hi' from the fun-loving American writer who finished the house wine.
Me and my colleagues decided to try a restaurant close to our hotel. It was pretty much a random choice of restaurant, but it turned out to be one of the best experiences we have had in Barcelona! This is my third time in Barcelona and I have tried quite a few restaurants. Still, this restaurant managed to surprise! Great service and the best pizza I have ever had! Sounds very much like a cliche, but it isn't! The pizza was absolutely wonderful! ("inferno + extra pepperoni") I can definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Our first night in Barcelona in an area we hadn't visited before so I took to TA to find somewhere and this place popped up. It really doesn't look like much from the outside or even the inside but that doesn't matter. The roaring oven and pizza menu was enough to get us inside. It's not a complex menu; a few starters and about 20 different pizzas. We had the Inferno (tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni and spicy olive oil) and the wife had the Hawai (mozzarella, ham and pineapple). The pizzas were HUGE. I've uploaded a picture to show you. Oh my, the pizza was good too!! Honestly some of the best pizza I've had. We've already said that if we come to an impasse about where to eat one evening then we'll go back!! I can't recommend this establishment enough.
We opted for a less expensive meal and TA pointed us here, a short walk from our hotel. Wonderful Neopolitan family run restaurant and although it looked like a college crowd kind of place and was windowless, the hosts couldn't have been nicer. The salmon & cheddar pizza was fantastic! We'll be returning this trip.
