Restaurant Fong Lum這個餐廳人氣還挺旺的，人很多，本土菜為主，裝修的還不錯，有風格有創意的那種，服務業不錯，整體算是還可以的
If you can look past the charcoal steamboat, then this place is for you. Inexpensive steamboat - RM20/pax and they also serve other hot dishes like noodles and rice. Look for Madam Wong. 3Adults2kids, the bill came up to be RM98, with fully satisfied stomachs - we even ordered an extra plate of (just) fish balls... They serve the 1/2-1/2 steamboat - i.e. 1/2 normal broth, 1/2 tomyum. I believe you can request just for the non spicy broth too. And best is that it away from the crazy "warzone" tourist belt of restaurants...
Had dinner twice at this place, First was the Steamboat and 2 kind of stock was given. A chicken and a TomYam one. The TomYam stock was not spicy at all which is a boon for me with yong kids but for spice lovers you will be very disappointed. They were going for RM 18 per head and had chicken and prawns in the spread. In the highlands i would avoid any seafood as they would need to come in from the ports. The vegetables however are excellent. You are given a gas burner for the steamboat so for folks looking for good old fashion charcoal ones look elsewhere. 2nd night we had their regular ala carte menu and the food was ok. For me the best thing about this place is the ease to find parking and away from the maddening crowd along the main thoroughfare in Brinchang.
Went for dinner during weekday but was served by inexperience staffs. We ordered for the small yellow wine chicken. We were expecting clay pot chicken in yellow wine. However we were served steamed chicken instead and only after when we had almost finished all the dishes. Thinking this was the correct way of their cooking, we went ahead. The chicken was tough most probably oversteamed. When the bill came, the charges was not in accordance to the menu. The lady boss said what we ordered was soup. Then in the first place, the waitress never clarified and confirmed with us in the first place whether it was soup or steamed chicken leaving us feeling cheated.
