I would like to share my experience when ate at there. I love to eat chicken rice, especially the chicken…mmmmm…yummy….so delicious. Besides that, they all sell many types of ala-carte foods such as Fried Singapore Bee Hun, Fried Rice, Fried Hokkien Mee, Sar Ho Fun, Gong Po rice, salted fish fried rice, etc…If you would to order for soup, they also can cook some chinese soup (upon request). They also sell some drinks too…such as herbal tea (homecook), Crystensium Tea (homecook), Loh Hon koh tea (homecook), Soft drinks & etc. I will go to eat at there everytime when I visit to Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands. They are very friendly & nice. The foods very delicious to eat & also very reasonable price. It is very worth to eat at there than other shop/restaurant. Don’t miss your chance to have the best, cheapest & delicious lunch or dinner at there.
I have been visiting to this small hawker stall owned by experienced Chinese chef several times during business trips. The stall located opposite of Maybank Tanah Rata, no.6 which is right at middle of 10 stalls (some are abandoned stalls). The stall may be little small but the foods are good, probably one of the best in Cameron Highlands. Chicken rice is the best at 12.00pm when the fried chicken is hot served, together with yellow rice & soup of the day (refillable). If not mistaken, the price of chicken rice is RM5.00, quite reasonable price at Cameron Highlands for the good quality. The stall also serves other fried dishes, the MUST TRY are Sweet & Sour Chicken, Salted Fish Tauge, Prawn Frien Egg! And don't forget Gong Bao (Spicy) Chicken! The business hour is 12.00pm - 3.00pm & 6.00pm - 9.00 (Everyday but dinner time is closed on Sat - Sun). This hawker mainly serve local people and crowded especially during lunch time. Try make a call before visiting to avoid dissapointment!
We would have rated it average if the lady boss is willing to taste the toufu with leek & shrimps dish that we claimed to have turned sour but instead she kept saying that she bought it fresh without even trying it out. Non-negotiable on this matter at all. We just wanted her to know that her ingredients (toufu) has turned sour and not that the dish were bad, the shrimps and the rest of it is okay and we finishes it except for the toufu. A bit on the pricey side as there were 3 of us and we ordered 3 dishes. A 'kangkung belacan' with the portion for 1person, the 'sourish toufu dish' and a 'Kung Pao Diced chicken' (has more dried chillies & onions than diced chicken meat) with 3 rice, 2 Chinese tea and a glass of water. Bill came up to MYR31.00 which is a bit too much with the small portion served (we actually went for Indian food right after as is not filling). Lots of flies and also mosquitoes flying and buzzing around and we all grew impatiently with it. No ambience. Definitely will not recommend anyone to dine here. There are plenty of restaurants in main Tanah Rata town (Starbucks row) where you can get better deal and food quality than this place. Hope the owner will take note on customer service and feedback to improve.
