長橋海國家濕地公園

Changqiao Sea is located in Mengzi City, adjacent to Datunhai Sea, just on the Tropic of Cancer. The Yi language name "Yipo Hei" means "the sea with fountains at the bottom of the lake". It is a lake formed by the surface water from the interior of the Mengzi fault basin converges to the depression and is part of the remnants of the ancient lake. Changqiao Lake has an elevation of 1284 meters, a reservoir area of 1167.73 hectares, a maximum water depth of 7 meters, an average water depth of 4 meters, a shoreline length of 9.5 kilometers, and a normal water storage capacity of 45 million cubic meters. In addition to the Dahonggou, Shala and Lijiang rivers, the Changqiaohai River has built embankments on the east, West and south sides and diverted water from the Nanxi River, a tributary of the Red River. The runoff area is 167 square kilometers. After the excess water is discharged to the Datunhai Sea, during the flood season, the discharged water is diverted eastward to the Shadian River and into the Lujiang River after the grass dam, and injected into the Nanpanjiang River. It can be said that it is a lateritic plateau lake connecting the Red River system and the Pearl River system.

Because it belongs to the Inland area, Yunnan people have a yearning for the ocean. Therefore, they call the place larger than the pond as the sea, and so does the Changqiao Sea. Although a little small, but also gives a kind of magnificence.

The total area is 1225.3 hectares, of which 1146.25 hectares are wetlands. The wetland rate reaches 93.55 [%]. It belongs to permanent freshwater lake wetlands. The lake shoreline is 9.5 kilometers long, with a maximum width of 2.9 kilometers, an average width of 1.17 kilometers, a maximum depth of 5.5 meters and an average depth of 3.74 meters. Water storage capacity is 53 million cubic meters and runoff area is 261 square kilometers.
