石鼓寮風景區是一個山青水秀、兼具田園風光的景區，景區內洞、溪、石俱全，是一座天然石雕博物館。這種原生態的多重積澱，為歷史題材影視劇的創作提供了良好的氛圍，因而倍受編導、演員的青瞇。 2002年張紀中以石鼓寮為外景基地拍攝《天龍八部》一炮打響，爾後《漢武大帝》、《大漢天子》、《醉拳》、《大宋提刑官》等數百個劇組竟相移機石鼓寮。一時間群星薈萃，石鼓寮聲名鵲起。
