The venue is great, simple yet chic, casual and comfortable. The atmosphere is great but I would switch off the television and put some nice New York Jazz Music in the evening. The food (my custom made burger) was to die for. And the service was excellent, friendly, courteous and engaging. If you are in this part of the city and you are looking for a good place without pretension then I definitively recommend it.
That being said we opted for burgers and sandwiches. Had the fryer been working I would have tried the fish and chips. I had a club sandwich on rustic bread. This sandwich was wonderful. It had a chicken breast, avocado, lettuce and tomato on a delicious thick bread. Service was ok; waiter didn't ask if we wanted drinks, or offer any additional refills or napkins, we had to ask, but overall good place to eat. This place is hard to find, parking was either in a small lot in back with a hefty $7.00 fee or street parking of which there was none.
We stopped by for a late lunch and had a beer and a glass of wine with quite delicious grilled cheese sandwiches, which contained jalapenos - just the right amount of heat - and came with a cup of thick tomato soup to dip. Super-Yum!! We stopped by a different night for a cocktail and mine was delicious. Can't remember the name but was the first one on the drink menu. I think it contained champagne, St. Germain and had blueberries floating.
