We stopped by the Starbucks on Gran Via whilst in the city and needing a quick coffee fix. The frappuchino is as always a great choice when it gets hot in the hustle and bustle of the Madrid city centre. The cold brew is always a nice alternative of which is less of the sweet variety. Be sure to ask about the WiFi as they will give you a ticket at the till with a username and password to save you having to register. The toilets also need a code to enter that is on your receipt so don't bin it!
This branch was on C\Arenal in Madrid (just round the corner from the Apple Store). Small branch though it does an upstairs part to sit in or there are seats outside. Was able to give my order in English (nice & easy) & it took a few minutes for order to arrive. Had a piece of Apple Cake (Tarta de Manzana) & because of the heat the cakes are kept in a refrigerated cabinet - don't normally like my cake this cold but no choice. Just what you expect.
My niece and I like to have coffee early and the hotel's room service left something to be desired. We took turns going to Starbucks two doors away for hot lattes, bagel, cream cheese, muffins and yoghurts. We did it for three days and looked forward to it every morning. They open 7:30 during week, 8:00 Sat & Sun. Lots of early-morning customers but service was fast. I usually frequent neighborhood coffee shops but they're not always open. Now I want to make sure there is a Starbucks when I stay at other hotels.
