Truth be told, the old world deference of the all-male staff doesn't do it for me anymore. The food was fine if not inventive, and I have to admit I like a bit lighter fare: the carciofi dish seemed skimpy. One bottle of wine was off and they pleasantly took it away. I know folks for whom this would be the perfect spot but for a hipper more gender-balanced place, go elsewhere.
The calamari were great...
I'm used to pricey Manhattan meals but the deceptive practices here are unacceptable. First the white truffles. Available many ways but no discussion re pricing. I didn't ask but didn't order. Then we were shown several bottles of wine "on sale". I did ask the price. 250 a bottle! Don't worry, marked down from 375. No thanks. We ordered a low priced bottle at 95. I looked it up on line. A five fold markup. It's a pity because the room is pretty and the food good.BUT, it is priced like a Michelin 2 star in Paris but with far more overpriced wines.
the food is really good
We enjoyed our warm seafood salad in the quiet and relaxed ambiance. The wait staff was extremely gracious.
Ciao, spero di venire presto a trovare il mio amico chef Andrea!
