The tall tower where the astronomical clock is located is the tower of the old city hall. It is the first city hall in Bohemia. After John of Luxembourg granted Prague autonomy in 1338, Bohemia's first city hall was built. In 1364, a 69.5-meter-high tower was built. In 1381, Peter Paller designed and built a chapel. In 1410, an astronomical clock was built. In 1945, the New Gothic East Wing building, which was badly damaged by the German army in the Prague Uprising, was demolished by resolution in 1947. Only part of it was left to ensure the stability of the tower. The North became a small park to commemorate the victims of the uprising. Inside the city hall, visitors can come in, as well as group guides. The ticket office is in the door on the right side of the clock. After buying tickets, it goes out to the door on the left side of the clock and enters.
