Located north of Lake Griffin, the Australian War Memorial is a green-grey dome built to commemorate Australian soldiers killed in World War II. It was built in 1941, opened in 1945 and completed in 1971. It covers an area of 13,000 square meters and is surrounded by 12 hectares of lawn.
