卡拉卡拉浴場可同時供2千人洗浴，是當時羅馬的第二大浴場，第一大浴場是羅馬火車站旁的戴克里先浴場（可同時供3千人洗浴）。卡拉卡拉浴場是一個綜合性的休閑中心，配套有圖書館、商店和花園。浴場的地下洞室有9.5公里長的管道，每天都有近1000奴隸在隧道里辛苦照看着錯綜複雜的管道系統。當時羅馬城有一百萬人，其中三十萬是奴隸。
