大教堂廣場，位於新西蘭南島基督城的市區中心。是基督城的歷史中心、曾經是市民集會的主要場所，如今也是這座城市的交通中心、遊客(特別是步行客)的活動中心，遊覽基督城的必打卡之處。最滄桑。1864-1904年建成的基督城大教堂(廣場以其得名)，建設時期就遇到兩次地震。建成后以其優雅的造型和63米高的哥特式尖塔，成為基督城的經典地標。2011年2月的6.3級大地震，對基督城造嚴重破壞，大教堂的尖塔倒塌、塔樓殘存一半，僅剩中殿完整保存。毀損的建築至今仍未修復，被冰冷的腳手架緊緊包圍。最醒目。廣場的中央位置，樹立着約翰·羅伯特·科德利的紀念雕像，科德利是基督城所在的坎特伯雷地區的創立者。最文藝。廣場一側，擺放着巨型的國際象棋棋盤，紅/黑的棋子高50-80厘米，看上去每一顆都很沉、挪動起來很費勁(兩名高手正在專註對弈、切磋棋藝，筆者沒能親手體驗一下棋子的重量，留下一憾)。最酷炫。2001年，為迎接千禧年到來和慶祝基督城和坎特伯雷地區建立150周年，在廣場中置放了“千年聖杯”雕塑。高18米的雕塑，呈細長的圓錐形，造型抽象、裝飾具象、外圓中空，外壁銀灰、內芯湛藍。層疊之間、新西蘭國花-銀蕨的恭弘=叶 恭弘片等8種本土原生性植物的恭弘=叶 恭弘系，互相纏繞、舒展向上，象徵著勃勃生機、欣欣向榮。最便捷。復古電車在廣場一側設有車站，成為一道靚麗風景線。2.6公里的運營線路、17個停靠站點的復古電車，可以便捷地抵達市區的主要景觀。

在我們住的那两天，廣場上都非常熱鬧。 星期五食品市場很好。它有很多好吃的食物可供選擇。有很多傳統的食物和咖啡。我喜歡黃色的圖書館小貨車，所有書籍都在5美元以下。很遺憾午飯後我沒回去買書。這是参觀大教堂及其所有破損的絕佳地點。我迫不及待地想在未來参觀這座教堂，從這個廣場上看到它煥然一新的輝煌。

2月份去的，基督城這個城市，實在是太乾淨了，天很藍，看什麼都是4K高清不用P。然而看得出，經歷了2013年大地震后，基督城到處是殘垣敗瓦，每個街區幾乎都有破損的樓房在施工修復，但是據說有些工地一直修修停停，修了3年都還沒有修好，聽當地的說，好像一方面是資金的問題，另一方面是為了防止一下子這麼多工地同時施工會造成空氣污染，這個原因在中國幾乎是不可想象的，不禁對新西蘭人民對環境那種尊重再次加深了印象。大地震最嚴重影響最大的是當屬以下這個基督城地標 大教堂，以下這張是網上找來的地震前大教堂的原樣，然而我們去到看到的是已經完全破損的教堂，幾乎徹底摧毀了，確實很可惜。

基督城大教堂廣場是克萊斯特徹奇的歷史中心，位於廣場中央，教堂始建於1881年，是這座城市的地標，可惜2011年2月的地震帶來了毀滅性的破壞，教堂63米高的尖塔發生坍塌，只有塔身的下半段殘存下來，隨後同年的6月和12月的兩次地震毀壞了教堂珍貴的彩色玻璃圓花窗，這座擁有150年歷史的建築精華消失在人們的視野中，如今教堂仍處在封閉之中，四周堆滿了建築材料，隔着鐵絲網，冰冷的腳手架代替了優雅情韻的哥特式尖塔，原先雍容華貴的彩色玻璃圓花窗不復存在，留下廢墟一片，只有十字架下一朵朵野菊花傲然怒放，金燦燦一片……基督城在重建過程中，大教堂廣場將被改造成一座公園，不過按照日本設計師ShigeruBan的設計，在MadrasSt和HerefordSt兩條街的交叉路口，搭建了一座“紙板大教堂”，在生活中，新西蘭人可不能沒有教堂。教堂廣場設置了花門，步入其中看見那教堂珍貴的彩色玻璃圓花窗碎落一地，漂亮的花窗消失在視線之中，讓人惋惜。交通選擇一條是CityTour，另一條CityLoop，基本環繞着基督城市中心，附近可玩地方有SterMall，是個貨運集裝箱改建的大市場。
