聖使徒教堂 座落於雅典古市集東側 古阿格拉地區 可追溯到公元10世紀 聖使徒教堂是在阿格拉地區除了赫淮斯托斯神廟以外唯一一個未受到較大破壞而留存到現在的歷史建築 在拜占庭中期時代 聖使徒教堂是雅典名聲第一顯赫的教堂 標志著所謂“雅典式”教堂建築的開始

教堂建成后其後的200年，直到第四次十字軍東征（1201年）以前，也是雅典享有短暫繁盛的階段，其承擔了基督教祈禱、佈道、埋葬信徒（其後在教堂周邊發現了拜占庭時期的石棺）等職能，後來，在雅典抵抗奧特曼帝國與威尼斯人的戰爭中（1687年）有所損毀，雅典人於1876至1882年間進行了改擴建，在一定程度上改變了教堂原有的樣貌，直到1954至1957年，又被改造回貼近於10世紀初建時期的樣貌。
