It was built in 1969. Facing the river, it covers an area of 1160 square meters. The base is 4.9 meters high, with wide steps on both sides and guardrails around it. The monument is 37 meters tall, and the top of the monument is 1.8 meters in diameter. The monument is decorated with red silk and sunflower is clustered around Tian'anmen Square. The front of the stele is inlaid with milky white marble, with Mao Zedong's personal inscription ""celebrating the victory of the Wuhan people over the flood of 1954 and preparing to overcome the same serious floods that may occur in the future. " The head of Mao Zedong is also embedded on the red tile above the inscription. Mao Zedong's poems "water tune song head, swimming" are engraved on the front of the base, and the large relief sculptures of the people of Wuhan for flood fighting and rescue are on the left and right sides. The composition is complete, the shape is vivid and the momentum is magnificent.
