King William Street is the main street in the Adelaide CBD and is blessed with some interesting colonial architecture, particularly the General Post Office and the Town Hall, both close to Victoria Square and other attractions, easily accessible by tram.

The General Post Office (GPO) is located at the corner of King William Street and Franklin Street on the north side of Victoria Square in downtown Victoria Square. The building of the General Post Office is still quite beautiful. It is more elegant than Adelaide Town Hall, the Adelaide Town Hall opposite to the North side, although it has bell towers. To the East is Adina Apartment Hotel Adelaide Treasury, Adelaide Finance Building. It's not far from Adelaide Central Market. The Adelaide General Post Office operates from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. International mail for overseas visitors can be sent to Adelaide GPO, stamped with ", left to receive ", (Poste Restante) and postcode 5000. The post office will keep the mail for up to four weeks.
