1999年8月，隨着內蒙古蒙牛乳業（集團）股份有限公司在呼和浩特和林格爾縣一片荒地上成立，內蒙古旅游業又增加了一個亮點—工業旅遊。通過在生產車間設計参觀通道等方式展示蒙牛牛奶、冰淇淋、酸奶、奶酪、奶粉等消費者所喜愛的產品的生產、加工到成品的全線生產流程，從而展現蒙牛企業文化，讓廣大的消費者了解蒙牛，信任蒙牛，熱愛蒙牛。

這個是蒙牛工業景區，但風光特色直接將這裏頂上了色彩格調具有極其強吸引力的旅遊勝地。那麼個圍繞風景打造的景觀設計確實很耐看。

蒙牛景園區的導遊會根據人數安排参觀，有固定路線。園區很大，基本都是一些企業的演變歷程，生產加工的自動化車間，還可以免費品嘗牛奶和冷飲，参觀時間大致在2個小時左右，如果要看牧場奶牛，那在這裡是看不到的，需要到呼和浩特西面的蒙牛牧場。

蒙牛工業園位於呼和浩特市南和林格爾縣盛樂工業園，從最初一期廠房發展到現在六期，規模宏大，周邊學校，商業配套全部發展起來了，把一個農村荒郊變成了一個工業小鎮，呼和浩特新機場也在附近建設。
