密蘇里號戰艦於1944年6月服役。1945年9月2日，麥克阿瑟將軍在密蘇里號戰艦甲板上接受了日本的無條件投降，第二次世界大戰就此結束，“密蘇里”號1955年2月退役，后經現代化改造，於1986年5月重新投入服役，並在1991年1月參加了海灣戰爭，1992年正式退役。1999年開始，“密蘇里”號被改為紀念艦，停泊在珍珠港內，成為太平洋戰爭開始和終結的見證。
