納木那尼峰與著名的岡仁波齊峰同處於西藏阿里地區的核心地帶，只不過因為岡仁波齊峰作為藏傳佛教的四大神山之一太有名了，以至於同樣非常壯美的納木那尼峰的光彩完全被掩蓋了。處於普蘭縣境內的納木那尼峰在當地被稱為“聖母峰”或者“神女峰”，與處於塔欽的岡仁波齊峰遙遙相對，在傳說中是岡仁波齊峰妻子。
