Port Arthur is located at the southern end of the Tasman Peninsula. Known as "ghost city", it was once a famous place of exile for criminals and was listed on the Australian National Heritage List. Many buildings have been demolished or burned down, and only ruins are now visible. Port Arthur was designed as "a machine that hones criminals into honest people". The freed criminals in Port Arthur were unable to make a living because they had learned a trade. It is surrounded by mountains, Bibo Bay, trees and picturesque scenery. It's not so much a prison as a fully functional community. If the weather is good, the scenery will be beautiful.
